"Excellent hotel, great service, a tad pricey"

We have stayed here 4 times now and never had a problem. We visit family in Katy, so we are about 10 minutes away. Just stay off the freeway during morning and evening rush or it will take way too long to go those 12ish miles. We take the access roads if we have to travel then. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfy and the whole hotel is top-notch clean. Breakfasts are usual. It is nice to see them change-up the decor in the lobby, always looks a little different, but nice. There is an easily accessible computer in the lobby, in full view of the desk. This makes the surfers move out a little more quickly when all you need to do is a fast print or check. Staff is super quick and friendly. They seem to stay awhile, I know we have seen at least 2 of the folks over 4 years. Only observation is that the cost per night on Friday and Saturday was very reasonable for a La Quinta but on Sunday-Thursday, it went up $40, which was almost 50% more than the weekend. I understand it is on Energy Corridor, but for that price, I may go down to the other remain nameless hotels down the street and across the interstate. Their weekday stays were more reasonable and they are big name chains. (My daughter and family stayed there this trip and on Sunday night, they were only $25 more and have a nice restaurant in-house. Just sayin', though we are hard core La Quinta fans.) But I should mention that staying here for a Katy visit is much less than staying near the Katy Mills Mall in the LQ there.

"bad smell in room"

Stayed here for 2 days while in the area for work. If the reservation had been more than two days I would have checked out. The good: hotel is well decorated. It has a pleasant courtyard and is relaxing. I had reserved a suite but their idea vs my idea of a suite are different. There was a recliner, a desk/dining table , fridge microwave. Bed was firm. The bad:the room smelled like a cat liter box! At first I thought I was imagining the smell but it stayed. Room wouldn't cool down. The tub is narrow and slippery and you need to stand sideways to shower. And the shampoo dries out your hair. The carpet under the air conditioning unit was always wet. Breakfast is cereal, muffins, bagels. They do have yogurt and hard boiled eggs, but on my second day the egg I grabbed was raw. I mentioned the odor in the room and the wet carpet to the gentleman at the front desk but no change in room was offered. I didn't spend much time in the room. I will not return.
