My family and I needed an inexpensive overnight stay on our way south. I booked this hotel on hotwire based on the approval rating and wasn't disappointed. The room was larger than I expected with a generous foyer, French doors into what I'd consider an over sized bathroom for a hotel, and the room it's self wasn't tight. It had a table with two chairs, something we appreciated as we had brought our laptop, and as a ground floor room, had two entrances. One into the hallway and one into a secure interior courtyard with the pool and a nice gazebo with comfortable seating. We enjoyed relaxing in the evening air after a long day on the road. The pool was closed for renovations, however, given it was a bit early in the season for swimming anyway, we didn't mind too badly. The breakfast was adequate but just. Nothing exceptional there but it did the job. The staff was nice and I would think that once the renovations are complete these rooms will be even nicer though I didn't find them unpleasant as was. They showed their age, perhaps, but were well kept and clean. I would warn that there is much road construction going on in the area which can make it very tricky to get in and out of the hotel. Having said that, from what I observed most of the hotels were in this area so that is likely to be an issue any where you stay.

Recently stayed here 2 nights and was forewarned that construction was going on. I stayed on third floor which was supposedly already completed. The room was fine except for no place to lay soap in bathtub area and no exhaust fan. The room was supplied with 1 washcloth and 1 small hotel size soap. Upon asking at the desk I was given additional. This motel did not have coffee available except at breakfast hours. The breakfast was satisfactory but no hot food except make your own waffles. Large seating area which was very nice. I would not stay here again unless the construction is completely over. There was some dirt on carpet and little things that looked unkempt due to I guess construction. Also they were having issues with the 1 computer that was available.

On our way from Florida to Michigan we stayed here for one night. Very nice room, recently remodeled with new carpeting and furniture. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. I believe the entire hotel is being renovated and will be top notch when completed. Front desk help at check in was outgoing and accomadating. Early morning help in the breakfast area and at the front desk could use a little polishing. Management needs to take a look at that area.

Excellent facility, staff, breakfast. Three separate stays at this Inn has all been top notch and seems to improve with each stay. Personnel always has been courteous and efficient. Inn has been totally renovated and is in pristine condition.

Even though we arrive late and leave early, the room must be clean and without the furnishings looking worn. The La Quinta Macon meets those needs as well as being reasonably priced, pet friendly and offering breakfast. This was our second time at this property. The first time we were given a newly renovated room that appeared nice when we arrived. We woke up in the morning to what sounded like people in our room. It turned out that once the carpet was removed and wood floors put in, the door no longer hit the floor and all the sounds traveled through this space. Hopefully that has been remedied. This time we were put on the other side of the hotel without an adjoining door and found that much better. The public areas are well decorated and inviting. The rooms are clean and the bedding is comfortable. Breakfast is pretty standard with no surprises or disappointments. Free internet is a plus. I have to agree with earlier comments about the front desk staff. I interrupted the employee's meal when we checked in. I was quickly given my key, but there was no mention as to my rate - I was hoping there wouldn't be any surprises in the morning (which there wasn't). The hotel manager was on duty when we checked out, and she was very personable. We have never used the pool, but from quick glance it looks nice. The exit on I-75 is under construction (and has been since at least my last trip in October 2012) so it is a bit confusing, especially in the dark.
