"Great hotel"

I have stayed at his property many times, and it is a great favorite. Always clean, always comfortable, and friendly and helpful staff. Very well run.
Property is a bit difficult to get to, but that cannot be helped;, the street is divided in a way that a guest must head north and then double back with a U-turn. Even so, the property has a high occupancy rate.
I wouldn't go anywhere else. The service, location and friendliness of the staff make this my go-to place when traveling to and from California from Oregon. The staff assisted me with an especially early morning departure by prepping the breakfast area and food a little ahead schedule. WOW, I really appreciate that extra touch.
To clarify, this is a perfectly acceptable place to get a good night's sleep, but there are some issues.
A lot of hotel inadequencies can be adjusted to if you receive a good first impression at check-in. I didn't get that. The woman who checked us in seemed angry and gruff. We were instructed to drive around back to enter Building C and find the elevator. After fruitlessly searching for a parking spot amongst the commercial trucks, we returned to park at the front of the building and haul our luggage in search of this elusive elevator. Come to find out, there was an elevator around the corner in the lobby, not 20 feet from the front desk that she "forgot" to mention.
Previous reviews have mentioned broken locks on exterior doors into the hotel and I found these also. These doors have had the mechanical latch & locking mechanisms gutted in lieu of electronic, card-lock, locks. However, some of the card-locks do not work, the door is un-locked and can be opened from the outside by anyone.
The two issues that need the most attention at this LaQuinta are the security issue and being ignored at the front desk by staff more intent on answering phones and 3 people conferring with each other while staring at a computer screen and ignoring customers standing in front of them.
When driving to Southern California from the Seattle area, we look forward to stopping at the LaQuinta in Redding for the night. The hotel is attractive, clean, welcoming staff, at an affordable cost! If I'm not mistaken, I believe they also allow pets. In addition, they are a few yards away from the busy and great restaurant next door, the "Cattleman's", to end the day with good food!
Found the property easy to locate off the interstate. Reservation was completed and was asked at the desk if I wanted to leave the reservation on my credit card. I said yes and a room key was promptly handed to me. Room was clean and cool. Plastic lightweight toilet seat was extremely loose when first used. Called front desk and the problem was corrected within 30 minutes. Very good service. Very good complementary breakfast. I would return to this location without any question.
