Back east, I have noticed *modern* LQs along our road trips, and decided this would be a great time to try this one. This one was *not* modern, a fact I could not tell from internet descriptions. Having stayed here, I think I just should have stopped in Las Cruces.
There were lots of little maintenance issues. For example, we were given a handicap room "upgrade", (were they out of decent rooms? hardly anyone there) and the shower wand did not have anywhere to connect to the wall and hung over the side of the tub when we arrived. The clothes hook on the back of the potty door was no where to be found, and there were holes where the screws had once lived.
The room was very large, a king with living room and sofa bed, fridge/ micro. But I am used to better hotels who actually want me to recognize the charge on my cc bill. When I asked for a receipt in the am because I had not received one under my door, I was told that was a special privilege reserved for their elite customers. Honestly, I don't know if I even received a bill, since I was so shocked.
I received a customer survey, and a hotel reply was quite defensive, that they were a small business and took some time to handle maintenance issues. That's not what I pay for when I book with a national chain.
Bottom Line: Never again.
La Quinta hotels are always clean and comfortable. This one did not disappoint me.
My only concern was that I had to walk the dogs on a gravel area. When we left the gravel area, the dogs immediately got thorns in their feet. This is something you have to watch out for in the dry climates of the southwest..
We stopped in here on a cross-country road trip and were greeted with a smile at reception. The pool was pretty tiny, but many folks were enjoying it. (It was a Saturday night, after all.)
It's been awhile since we stayed at a LaQuinta, so I just expected carbs and coffee for breakfast, but they did have some kind of egg/cheese product available that we liked. (Plus salsa in a packet, which was nice.) We like animals, but this hotel seemed to be a dog magnet with all the folks traveling with their pets who can't stay anywhere else. Heard some barking throughout the hotel, and twice when we opened our door -- we were staying by the elevator -- my 5-year-old got barked at by the same dog. Scared us all to death. Of course this isn't really the hotel's fault, but pet-friendly policies make this much more likely to happen.
Best of all: the rate we paid. Incredibly low for the value we got. All in all, a pretty great experience!
We stayed here for a family occasion , after traveling 13 hrs it was great to be received with a friendly smile . Reception / front desk was great . Rooms were cleaned and very quite . Best part was the free WiFi and bright side breakfast . Great hotel , small town , but very good location . Loved it !
We had eleven women travel from Ruidoso, NM for a one day golf tournament in Deming. All the reservations were handled by me, basically the "team captain", and everyone was extremely satisfied. One room had its air conditioning unit heat up, and the problem was immediately handled with a move to another room by the hotel staff. They could not have been more helpful and everyone was very friendly. An extremely pleasant stay for all of us!
