"Dirty, run down, over priced and smelly"

We reserved the 2 bedroom executive suite for 4 nights while our son was getting married in Sedona last week. It was VERY expensive but we figured for the area, it was okay and therefore HAD to be really nice. We arrived to find the hotel lobby quite nice. Staff was nice but we quickly found that our 4 nights reservation was only made for 3 and our 4th night we were stuck into a room with two beds only. Reservation clerk made a mistake but with roll away we were fine. Frustrated but fine. Once we arrived onto our floor, I was shocked. The hallway carpets were old, filthy and horribly smelly. Once in the room, I was shocked even further. The room was run down, old, smelly, dirty and even the sheets were filthy. The views of the red rock were amazing but had trouble seeing them through the absolutely filthy windows that hadn't been cleaned in years. I was disgusted and upon complaining, I was informed that we were welcome to check out and find another room in another hotel. This floored me even more because they were well aware that Sedona was SOLD OUT! and we were there for our sons wedding. The day of the wedding, we spend the whole morning repacking our crap and moving it into the smaller room due to the reservation issue and ended up barely making it to the ceremony on time. Although breakfast was great; maid and maintenance staff constantly came in and helped themselves to the food and drink, WITHOUT USING TONGS... sticking their hands right into the food and watching over their shoulders to make sure nobody saw them. We watched one breakfast worker stand and eat small muffins, lick his fingers and stick his hand back in for more. We complained to a manager that appeared to take the news nonchalantly. We will not stay here again and will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone; rather persuade friends and family to book elsewhere. They all live in AZ and go to Sedona regularly. WE ARE ELITE MEMBERS AND STILL GOT TREATED THIS WAY.... BEWARE!!!
Our first LQ disappointment near the red rocks of Sedona was more like a low end Best Western. Carpets were so dirty you had wear sandals out of the shower to keep from getting black feet. Pillows were lumpy and bed was only marginally sleepable . Hallways stunk and these carpets were worn and stained. Spa was so chlorinated it made our eyes water and pool had so many bugs and other floaties it made me want to play pool boy and grab the skimmer just so we could swim.
Breakfast was sparse and no where to sit. Big signs warn "do not remove food from breakfast room" or we would have eaten in our room. First time we've eaten in a place where pets were permitted. OMG! As things quieted down after breakfast a group of older guests began to leave and were stopped by the attendant who said "you need to go back and clear your table." Had she said that to me, it wouldn't have been pretty.
We opted to pay more for a view and while it was nice to wake up to, we could have hiked it for free instead of getting shafted over a hundred bucks.
What you would expect in a La Quinta, clean, comfortable stay. Not great if you want get an early start on the day. Fitness room doesn't open until 8 AM, breakfast starts late also. Reception staff could be a little friendlier, wouldn't hurt to smile a bit.
We were a little leary of this hotel due to some bad reviews, but we enjoyed our stay. The room was nice and clean, and the breakfast had a lot of options. The hall carpets were a bit worn out, but the room was good. The front desk people weren't the friendliest, but they answered our questions. Its not a resort, but a good place to stop on any trip. Lets be honest, if you are in your room in Sedona, you are wasting your time not seeing the beauty outside. We would stay here again.
"Pet friendly, yea right!!!! If you LOVE your pet, do not come here!"

We have our stay scheduled for 3 days. We had decided on staying at this hotel because of it being 'pet friendly'. We had driven for about 3 hours and finally got to the hotel. We arrived an hour early, and decided to go in and see if our room was available. We went inside and were 'greeted' very rudely by the front office staff. She had told us that we would not have a room for another 40 minutes and that they were booked last night and they would be booked tonight. This was very odd, due to the fact of the 2 cars in the parking lot. We then decided to go for a walk with our dog to waste some time. Due to the heat, our dog became overheated and needed to go in the air conditioning. We came back in and sat down in the lobby and were then rudely told by the front staff that dogs were not allowed anywhere expect our hotel room. I again found this very strange due to the fact that this was a 'pet friendly' hotel. We were then told our room was ready and began the check in process. We had to sign a paper saying that we could be charged from $50-$100 if anyone complained about our dog barking. Then, the front dest woman gave my fiancee attitude because she said that we had not notified her that we had our dog with (even though she had been with us the entire time, plus, we called 2 weeks ago to remind them that we were bringing her). She then said that pets were only allowed on the first floor and they did not have any rooms available. After her being very rude, she said that we would just have to stay in the 2nd floor room. We then went up to our room which had a broken, noisy refrigerator. We have not finished our stay yet, so I will probably have more to say afterwards. We tried to stay at other REAL pet friendly hotels, however they are booked due to the holiday weekend. Please, save yourself and DO NOT stay here.
