"A very nice hotel"

We stayed here for a night on our way from Fremont, CA to Los Angeles, CA. The hotel is conveniently located on CA 46. We had a double room with 2 Queen beds. The room was of good size and the beds comfortable. Like all hotels the mattresses are a bit high and a short person (<5') may need some help to get on the bed. The bathroom was clean.
The breakfast was so so with packaged eggs and minimal cereals etc.
We had my mother (aged 95) with us and I had requested a room in the first floor. When we got there we were told there were no rooms in the first floor and were given a room in the third floor. The hotel does not have courtesy a wheel chair for senior citizens. We had to make other make shift arrangements.
The hotel is new which means it has little personality, but the rooms are spacious and the bed was comfortable. There is a wine shop in the lobby and the free breakfast is well above average. Not cheap, but reasonably priced for the area. About a mike from the city you cannot walk to anything so a car is a must.
We were attending a wine makers dinner in Paso Robles and this hotel was the closest to the winery. The staff was very friendly and we were happy with the room, plus they are pet friendly. I feel the rate of $125 with AAA discount plus taxes for a mid range hotel is a little high, considering there is no restaurant or places within walking distance.
Just off Hwy 46 it appeared to us that this hotel is situated in an area which is under development. It has plenty of parking, check-in was smooth and swift. Our room 340, was a suite with limited cooking facilities. It was very large, well decorated but did appear dark. Dark wood furniture and dark granite work tops added to the gloom.
A large bathroom with two basins, shower over the bath and toilet in a cubicle was positioned opposite the kitchen area. There were plenty of towels, free toiletries and the bathroom was very clean. However the lighting in the bathroom was very poor. There was no light near the bath which ensured that when the shower curtain was pulled the area was very dark. Again the only hook to hang clothes on was in the toilet cubicle!
When we arrived we were told that there would be a cheese and wine tasting event that evening in the foyer. This is held on Monday to Thursday evenings between 5.30 to 7. Many different grapes were available with a variety of cheeses and breads. Many of the wines on offer were available for purchase in the shop in the foyer.
The hotel does not offer any food in the evening and we couldn't find any restaurants within walking distance when we stayed at this hotel, but things mights have changed as it does appear to be an area under development. If we were to stay here again we would eat before arriving at the hotel. We got lost following the instructions we were given to find the nearest food outlets.
Very comfortable bed ensured a good night's sleep with very little traffic noise.
The complimentary breakfast the following morning was very good. Served buffet style, make your own waffles, fresh fruit, eggs, sausages, scones, muffins, bread, cereals, fruit juices, tea and coffee. The buffet was replenished frequently and was kept clean, tidy and well managed.
We used the guest laundry which is available on the ground floor. There is also a small swimming pool at the front of the hotel.
Would we stay here again, probably not, but this is purely a personal preference not due to anything particularly amiss with the hotel. It is probably more down to location and lack of nearby facilities rather than the accommodation on offer.
"A great place to stay, especially if you travel with your dog."

We stayed in the apartment suite over Thanksgiving. Our daughter lives nearby and was hosting Thanksgiving dinner. I needed a kitchen to make some sides. The kitchen was well equipped and the appliances were brand new. Only negative was no disposal and a very small trash can. The staff brought a large trash bag so all was well.
We also were not able to get our regular pet sitter for that weekend, but we were able to take our dogs with no extra charge. The room was huge with a foldout in the living room. The bed was a little on the soft side, but that's just me. Staff and housekeeping were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was no frills, but more than adequate. It included eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, fruit, bagels, English muffins, etc. We will definitely return.
