Stayed here on an overnight trip, room was very clean, very large bathroom although it could have used more ammenities. Parking could be better as its located in the back with a oneway in/out or you can go in through next doors travel lodge as the parking lots connect. Pool open til 10pm, very clean. They accept dogs so that is a plus, no fee for my stay with my husky. Got a great deal on Priceline.
Not only does the La Quinta accept dogs, but the accomodations are superior,to any other hotel I have stayed in. On my last stay at the Latham L Q, we checked in and were given a room that had not been "readied" for guests.
I went back to the desk and said to the clerl. "I was wondering if our room could be made up, before we move into it." The clerk, looked totally embarassed, took another set of keys down and was about to take us to another room, when he stopped and took a different set of keys down. He up-graded our room to one with a jacuzzi!! That was totally unexpected!
Now, our 1st choice, when traveling, is La Quinta! There are not enough of them, in the US, but the ones they have are great! I would be happy if we could just have a one days drive betwen them!
Stayed here three times last week for some special events in the Albany area. Very nice moderately priced property near Albany. Lots of good restaurants around, helpful staff. Pet friendly, also. Location is 10 minutes from Albany airport, and close to I-87 and I-90.
I stay here at least once a month. Extremely friendly staff who go out of their way for you. Something you rarely see anymore. They remember me everytime I come. Truly a home away from home. I highly recommend.
"Renovations can't make up for all shortcomings. An average stay at La Quinta Albany."

Lobby and Staff
One of the nicer La Quinta that I've stayed in. Newly renovated and very friendly staff. I asked several questions and they were very willing to help.
Rooms
The rooms were clean with new renovations and carpeting. They were quiet except when the fire department alarms were sounding. Just a heads up to new guests. I appreciate the manager saying they are putting in requests to help stop the noise, I cannot foresee this changing anytime in near future. I'd rather the fire department have their safety alarms sound loudly for the public's benefit. Just be prepared for some surprising noises throughout the day and night.
The beds feel older and on the firm side.
Regular bedding, standard blankets, and sheets. Looking forward to new comforters that are on order. Carpeting was clean and bathrooms were spotless as well. I was not thrilled about having the coffee maker in the bathroom. I don't like to prep food or drink in the same place people defecate. The room contained both fridge and microwave. In addition, a small flat plasma screen TV.
The Pillows Controversy
The pillows weren't comfortable and very flat. See Pictures for proof. I could tell they have either been used frequently or aren't high quality. I'm thinking the latter.
Note: I did notice other reviewers not satisfied with the pillows. Although the manager has responded to several reviews with looking into the uncomfortable pillows, there hasn't been anything done yet to date. Also, I highly doubt anything will be done except a comment on trip advisor.
I noticed the following managers response on a previous review from December 27, 2012. " I am confused regarding the pillows in your room as to my knowledge, all our pillows are ?FEATHER PILLOWS?,conforming to La Quinta specifications. I will have Housekeeping check this immediately in case the vendor accidentally shipped us the wrong pillows during our recent order"
-I guess they didn't check immediately...or ever. See pictures, they are NOT feather pillows. They are clearly Polyester Fiber!
I recommend buying own pillows at Target or doubling pillows up for neck support. They really are as bad as the reviews.
Internet:
Free Internet was provided and
Business centers Internet was zippy!
Fitness Center
2 treadmills, 1 bike, and an elliptical. In addition, a pull up bar plus free weights up to 50lbs!! Very nice free weights. Lots of options to stay fit and active. It would be nice to see a water cooler or drinking fountain installed in future to stay hydrated while in the fitness center. Don't worry, there is a drinking fountain located just outside fitness center.
The Machine Test:
2 out of 4 machines aren't operationally safe or working. The treadmills shakes side to side when running. In addition, the elliptical is extremely dirty. The elliptical doesn't roll smoothly and needs to be repaired and cleaned. As sign says: Use at your own risk.
Note: the treadmills not being up to par was noted in a previous review months ago.
Pool
Small pool with 5 person hot tub. Just outside of pool area is a gas grill to use and chairs if you are looking for grilling and relaxing.
However, the grill outside is dangerous for cooking food. The grill contains large amounts of rust. This rust can flake off an old grill and onto your food.
If you are ingesting a lot of it, is not good for your intestinal track
Also, be careful on patio. Door locks behind you! Manager said that there is a rock to keep door propped open. This doesn't sound like the safest way to keep doors protected. A rock?
Breakfast
Standard La Quinta Breakfast. Expect bagels, donuts, coffee,
Juice, and standard waffle maker you'd find at most hotels. I was satisfied for breakfast.
Restaurant
No on site restaurant, however discounts at Doms pizza and Italian restaurant next door. Red robin across street and subway about 5 minutes away. Target is also within driving distance.
Tips: Great outdoor bar and grill next door. Live music. Nice way to spend an evening during the summer.
Overall:
It's what was expected of a La Quinta. Although I was impressed with renovations, the staff, and price. I was equally disappointed in the pillows, unsafe fitness equipment, dangerous grill, and coffee pot in bathroom. I was also disappointed in reading the managers comments online and discovering they weren't true. Would
I stay here again? Doubtful. However, I wouldn't rule it out completely.
