"Not a truly pet-friendly property & Poor response to a sleepless night"

We chose the La Quinta Inn in Clovis based on their pet policy. Sadly, there is little green space to walk your dog in the immediate area of the hotel property. We were advised to use the small strip of grass bordering the front parking lot and N. Prince Street. Sadly, there was a significant amount of rubbish including broken bottles and empty beer cans. The back of the property borders on the adjacent golf course, but the "green" area immediately adjacent to the property was also littered with a flotsam of trash. This being New Mexico, the rest of the property is concrete and rocks. When I commented about the condition of the dog area, I basically received a shrug and a "that's what we got" attitude from the receptionist along with a stern warning not to use the adjacent business property where the grass was green and clean.
That night, the hotel guests on the floor immediate above us decided that it was time to play with their dumbbells, at least that's what it sounded like. We called the front desk to complain about the noise several times. It appeared that after each call of complaint, the pounding noise only got louder as if these inconsiderate hotel guests decided it was time for some retribution. The receptionist was totally useless in resolving this issue.
Again when I complained to the front desk at the time of check out, all I got was another indifferent shrug of the shoulders ( must be the universal language of communication at this hotel).
On a 5 day road trip from Texas to Washington state, this was our worst hotel experience and clearly the worst hotel choice on our part.
Big room with very clean bathroom. Plenty of parking out front. Nice warm pool. Free internet which is nice but was slow at times. They do provide a complimentary breakfast of the usual yogurts, waffles, eggs, bacon, sweet rolls and juices. I'd say this is the nicest hotel in town.
Clean and quiet. However, little touches were annoying such a tiny TV with sound volume governed to not go above 40%. Hence had to sit directly in front of TV with volume at full to hear and see (and this was a suite). Their free Wi-Fi requires you to log in each time you use it, which is a pain especially on an iPhone. Also, tongs instead of a spoon were put out at breakfast to serve scrambled eggs!? Carpet in room was worn and needs a shampoo. Haven't stayed in a La Quinta since 2002, and now I know why. Would only stay here if a better quality hotel was not available.
very clean, fairly new hotel, friendly staff, value with a good free breakfast. Check in was easy and the rooms were large and comfortable. Would recommend staying at this hotel if you are traveling by car from Texas to New Mexico
"Pet Friendly - and that can be good or not so good so be aware"

We drove up in a blinding rain storm and the facility looked good on the outside - it is not a new building, but it has been well maintained.
We found out after we checked in that people can bring their dogs/cats/rabbits, etc. to this hotel. And if you are wanting to travel with your extended pet family, that is great news. If you are allergic to pets, it can make for a long and uncomfortable night.
The indoor pool was really nice. The rooms are a nice size, and comfortable. But if we had known that pets were allowed, we would have made a different choice due to a family member with severe allergies.
