"Good hotel - overpriced"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Apr 8, 2014

This hotel was comfortable with competent staff. My only complaint was that this was a busy weekend in Galveston and so they gouged their customers on price!! This normally $110 per night hotel charged $160 plus tax for total $185 per night! That is not right. The breakfast was free and ok quality but the dining room was dirty and needed attention.

"Just... Don't."

We checked into our room and left once we saw the state of the hotel. The room was grimy and just didn't feel clean.. Most of the people who were in our group ended up switching hotels, so it wasn't just us who felt this way. I recommend opting for the Holiday Inn Express right next door, which is comparatively priced and recently renovated.

"Very Pet Friendly"

As pet parents, it is so important to feel welcome when traveling with pets. The hotel was very clean and we felt more at ease seeing so many other pets traveling with their families. There is no additional fee for pets which is great.

"Galveston trip"

I was VERY disappointed in this hotel, and considering we had to rent 3 rooms for 2 nights, it was a lot of money for substandard rooms! *It appeared to me that the hotel made an attempt to redo their rooms...new furnishings, however, the work done on the rooms was terrible! Between our 3 rooms we had ac units falling out of the wall, vanity sinks that didn't fit, crappy paint jobs, door knobs/handles that were broken and/or falling off the door, holes in the walls, baseboards coming off, door trim missing, cracks in all the walls, water warped doors, inconsistent wifi and roaches! I assumed that the hotel had been hit by Hurricane Ike years ago, and this was their cheap attempt to remodel? The desk staff were lukewarm, as was the continental breakfast...and I have Never been in a hotel where I had to go by the open laundry room to find the elevators! *The parking elevator lobby looked like a tiled bathroom...odd! The ONLY plus I can give it was that the bed was comfortable. Needless to say, we would not stay there again, or recommend it!

"The drunk spring break crowd was quieter than the dogs"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Mar 26, 2014
GrouchyTraveler | DC
We already had low expectations by having to come to Galveston at the last minute for work during Spring Break, but the few college kids were actually pleasant compared to the howling of the dogs. I'm glad that the hotel is pet friendly, but please for the love of Dog, take your fracking hound with you during the day. All day long there was at least 3 little dogs and 1 larger dog constantly barking, howling, whining, and then setting each other off On the positive side, the bed was comfortable, with a real blanket and decent sheets. The room size was better than most low end honeycomb hotels. The internet access is garbage. Low signal strength, low bandwidth, and most irritating, it constantly reset itself ever hour on the hour? Downloading a powerpoint for work? Sorry, lost connection, wait 10 minutes, please reenter your password and try again. Rinse and repeat. The refrigerator is just barely able to keep food cool, not cold. I ended up tossing milk and sandwich meat that just would not stay cold. I wanted to keep food here as it is a hike to get to any decent food places. And this was compunded by this weird odor of mold and mildew given off by the A/C unit. At least in my room the a/c was quiet, better than some places I've been where the a/c sounds like a jet engine, even on low.
