"La Quintas placednin old urban hotels dont cut it"

The three things i look for in a hotel are quality of sleep, cleanliess and location. While the place is reasonably clean and the location is central and within a block from the subway, the quality of sleep is extremely poor. The matress is shot. The pillows are cheap. They provide one blanket in a duvet cover (i was afraid to look inside) and a strip of material across the foot of the bed for decor. The fan in the bathroom sounds like a jet engine as does the AC. It is on a block of Korean restaurants and by mid evening the sidewalks are taken up by mountains of garbage leaving room for two walkers so you have to walk single file in each direction thru it all. To their credit, most business owners clean up pretty thoroughly in front of their business every morning. The rooftop bar is small and packed with youth on the town -not a place to have a nice drink to start off or end the evening. I would not stay here again. I have stayed in many small town La Qs which are much better - they dont transistion well when they take over old big city hotels.
The hotel was a huge bargain, $100s cheaper than other options in the immediate, Midtown/ Penn Station area. The service was excellent, and my room was perfectly clean, large, and comfortable, with newish furniture, flatscreen TV, etc.. Fun rooftop bar, very well-done (and free!) contintental breakfast. The staff, without exception, was delightful and eager to help. It is right in the heart of the Korea Town section of Midtown, so if you are looking for Korean food, this is your place.
My friends and I spent three nights at the La Quinta Inn in Manhattan. It is in the Korean section of the city. The staff was friendly and there were no problems with our reservation. The room was large by NYC standards. Everything was clean including the linens and the bathroom. We were kept well-supplied with soap and towels.
Breakfast is included at this hotel. There were enough choices that I think everyone could find something to eat. I wish there had been more seating though.
After checking out on our last day, the hotel stored our luggage free of charge until we came back later in the day to claim it. I really appreciated it.
This hotel is terrible, an so is the management. Two days prior to arrival, the hotel charged my credit card, and then one day prior to arrival they authorised it again, and then a third and final time at check. The elevators are very small and slow. The hallways to the rooms are damp and very musty. The rooms are VERY VERY hot and the A/C doesn't work. the carpets are filthy, poor quality beds, the linens are thread bare. The property maintence overall is a disaster. Terrible location as well. Very crowded streets and bad location in the city.
The rooms are small, as is the bathroom and tub. Clean though, and well thought out. The T.V. doesn't come in very well, but rarely watched it anyway. Close to Penn station. Very convenient for everything. Korean area. Great noodles for late night snacks.Elevators are slow, breakfast is okay. Still and all, I'll be back. Good value.
