"A very good place to stay in Central Manhatten"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 13, 2014

We stayed for four nights in August and had a very good stay. The room was very reasonably priced for New York and was very clean and comfortable. We had asked for a quiet room overlooking the Empire State Building before we arrived. We were on the 12 floor and had the view. It wasn't as quiet as we might have liked as the air-con unit for the hotel seemed to be outside our window, but the bed was so comfortable we slept really well despite the noise, so we didn't bother to try and move. Tip - the upper floors are good as you are first to get in the lifts at the top, so avoid the full lifts half way down. The staff were professional and efficient throughout. We had a problem with our hairdryer and they replaced it (including screwing to the wall) within about 15 minutes. The concierge girls were helpful and will arrange trips and advise you if necessary. Breakfast was very busy and not the most pleasant experience - very noisy, not enough places to sit, paper plates, disposable cutlery and food ran out quickly, but it was also replenished quickly and the food was edible so it was ok for the price. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC as it is so central and is good value for money.

"Customer service"

Its hard to believe, as a Hotel employee from another brand, I expect to receive a good service, we are staying for one week in 2 rooms, but since we made a reservation the service has been poor. We arrived late night and we had wonderful check in by Tom the MVP of the front office team, but sadly since then, every single interaction has been rude, sometimes is depending of the associate's mood but in overall bad. The worst part has been the Concierge, if you don't like to give directions or sugestions get another job. The hotel is very well located and very convinient for tourist, they offer you complimentary national calls, wifi (fast but sometimes unstable), breakfast buffet (same all days) and a nice business center. They have a wonderful rooftop bar, just make sure you go early because during happy hour is too crowded, be by 5pm. We are staying a few more days, hopefully it gets better.

"Wonderful find in NYC"
5 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 4, 2014
WAMOMof2 | Seattle, WA
My son and I recently spent three nights in NYC. I was looking for a hotel near Penn and Grand Central Stations and somewhat centrally located in Manhattan for sight-seeing purposes. I ended up booking at La Quinta. It was not my first choice. Holiday Inn was, but La Quinta worked out really well. It was wonderfully located on 32nd St. between Broadway and 5th Ave., just two blocks or so from the Empire State Bldg., Penn Station and one block from a subway stop. 32nd St. is also known as Little Korea so if you like Korean food, this is a good area. The hotel is small, but seems to have been recently refurbished. It's clean, our room was quiet and very comfortable. Although it was small, it was not unpleasantly so. The best part of the room was the memory foam mattresses! My son wanted to take the mattress with him upon our departure! We also appreciated the very effective air conditioning as we were in NYC late July and it was hot. The room came with breakfast which was basic, but included oatmeal, various cereals, boiled eggs, toast, bagels, a fruit such as an apple or banana and there was usually a hot dish such as pancakes or an omelette of sorts. We did not leave hungry. The other wonderful aspect of this hotel is how many international travelers it seemed to house while we were there. One morning, there was a couple from Czechoslovakia on my right, two ladies from France on my left, a couple from Spain beyond them and then a mother and son travelling together from Mexico in the elevator. I highly recommend this hotel and if I were returning to NYC and needed to be in this area again, this is the hotel I'd check availability with first. The only negative I'll mention is there is no concierge in this hotel. So, there is no one to help with dinner reservations or recommending activities or places. I wanted information regarding some events in Central Park and no one at the reception desk could help. Other than that, it's a great place.

"A great find in NYC"

If your looking for a good, reasonably priced hotel right in the centre of Manhattan this is the place. My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights in August 2014 and found that it met all our needs. The rooms were very good and for manhattan reasonably size and the bathrooms very well fitted out. The breakfast was adequate to get your day going. Service was good but don't expect anyone to kiss your backside but again this is NYC! One last thing - it's got a great roof top bar with amazing view of the south facade of the Empire State Building. No negatives for us.

"Well placed, handy location, good value"

We spent 4 nights here in June. Room was on the 5th floor at the back which was ok as we were way from the street front . Great location. Nice clean and tidy room with good be. Good choice of breakfast stuff. Make sure you visit the roof top bar in the evening that affords fantastic view of the Empire State. Staff arrange a very reasonable airport transfer for us as well. We paid $973 for 4 nights which was good value for money.
