"Quiet & Convenient"

I had three criteria when I selected La Quinta Inn Manhattan. 1. Location 2. Smoking permitted rooms available 3. I could just barely afford it. First - Location. 32rd Street just east of Broadway (between 5th & 6th Ave.) is about as central as one can get in Manhattan. We were travelling via Amtrak and Penn Station is two blocks west; an easy walk. There are several subway lines within a few blocks and plenty of good restaurants nearby. So big plus for location. Second - Smoking permitted rooms. Not all of us wish to live in a nanny state, thank you very much. Third - Price. There are no cheap hotel rooms in Manhattan; at least none I would be willing to stay in. La Quinta was a bit more than I wanted to spend but not outrageous by NYC standards. I will say that the bed was extremely comfortable and the second floor room was incredibly quiet. Everything worked, it was clean and there were no issues with the staff. I would stay there again. A few more points - There is a rooftop bar on the 14th floor. We had drinks there each night and it was convenient for a beer before going to our room; but I wouldn't make a special trip to that bar. It is tiny and aimed at a very young crowd. Lots of techno music and no style. They did run a tight ship with very polite bouncers that looked like they could hurt you if they wanted. If you really want a good view of the city from your room, pick someplace else. Overall - La Quinta Manhattan is a solid choice for a Midtown Manhattan Hotel.

"Terrible smell and terrible customer service"

After a long day at a conference, we finally arrive to the hotel grateful to be able to relax. The moment we enter the 2nd floor it reeks of smoke. Then we open the door to our room and everything smells like smoke. We call the front desk and tells us there is nothing she can do. When we ask if we can check out to find healthier accommodations elsewhere in the city, she says we will still be charged. First, how is smoking still allowed in hotel rooms these days. It's not healthy nor is it safe on terms of fire safety. Second, if you inform them you have asthma and they have no other available rooms, how do not at least allow you to find other accommodations without being charged. They should even offer to help you find another room at an alternate hotel. The hotel would have been decent if not for the disgusting, reeking smell and horrible customer service, but will never frequent another La Quinta Inn....as one who frequents many hotels both expensive and moderate, this was the worst for $300. Should have stayed at the marriott.

"Great hotel for the money!"

My husband and I stayed here for two nights before getting on a cruise. We had stayed here two years ago and enjoyed it then. The hotel is in a good location. It is very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. The only issue we had was waiting for hot water on the second morning, but we finally got it. The elevators are a little slow but not a big deal. We will definitely stay again if we end up in NYC!

"A very good place to stay in Central Manhatten"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 18, 2014

We stayed for four nights in August and had a very good stay. The room was very reasonably priced for New York and was very clean and comfortable. We had asked for a quiet room overlooking the Empire State Building before we arrived. We were on the 12 floor and had the view. It wasn't as quiet as we might have liked as the air-con unit for the hotel seemed to be outside our window, but the bed was so comfortable we slept really well despite the noise, so we didn't bother to try and move. Tip - the upper floors are good as you are first to get in the lifts at the top, so avoid the full lifts half way down. The staff were professional and efficient throughout. We had a problem with our hairdryer and they replaced it (including screwing to the wall) within about 15 minutes. The concierge girls were helpful and will arrange trips and advise you if necessary. Breakfast was very busy and not the most pleasant experience - very noisy, not enough places to sit, paper plates, disposable cutlery and food ran out quickly, but it was also replenished quickly and the food was edible so it was ok for the price. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC as it is so central and is good value for money.

"Customer service"

Its hard to believe, as a Hotel employee from another brand, I expect to receive a good service, we are staying for one week in 2 rooms, but since we made a reservation the service has been poor. We arrived late night and we had wonderful check in by Tom the MVP of the front office team, but sadly since then, every single interaction has been rude, sometimes is depending of the associate's mood but in overall bad. The worst part has been the Concierge, if you don't like to give directions or sugestions get another job. The hotel is very well located and very convinient for tourist, they offer you complimentary national calls, wifi (fast but sometimes unstable), breakfast buffet (same all days) and a nice business center. They have a wonderful rooftop bar, just make sure you go early because during happy hour is too crowded, be by 5pm. We are staying a few more days, hopefully it gets better.
