"If I had it to do over again....."

If I had it to do again, I wouldn't stay at this location. The hotel was over priced. Areas of the carpet were severely damaged and/or dirty. We looked at a few rooms before settling on the one we picked. Some of the rooms had a strong, musky odor.
Staff explained the high price by stating that the hotel was once a Hawthorne Inn and Suites. The rooms have small kitchenettes. However, NONE of the kitchenettes have plates, pan or silverware. Therefore, if you plan to use the kitchenette, bring your own utensils, pans, plates etc. I've stayed in plenty of kitchenette rooms. NEVER have I stayed in kitchenette hotel where you have to bring your own stuff like you are CAMPING!
The pillows looked clean but smelled like someone's greasy head. The bed was uncomfortable. The coffee pot was dirty. The fridge was dirty. The ceiling of my room was cracked, splitting, and hanging down along the drywall seam. The shower curtain was mildewed. There was mold in the tub area. Again, back to the price. This is what I would expect at a hotel under $69.00 per night. On many occasions, I've slept at $69.00 per night hotels that were BETTER than this. I've stayed at many other La Quinta locations under $69.00 that were better than this WITH a DECENT breakfast too.
Before checking in, I mentioned to the manager that we chose this specific La Quinta location because the breakfast listed on the website looked better than the basic breakfast you get at other hotels. She didn't really comment but I saw fear and hesitation in her face and began wondering why. The breakfast wasn't anything special. They have generic coffee. Generic Splenda. The "omelet" which was a nuked egg patty that was likely from Sam's Club was still frozen when I tried to eat it. To call it an omelet, the kitchen worker placed a teaspoon of refried beans in the center of it. The kitchen worker was wonderful and nice but don't ask her anything unless you speak Spanish because she speaks ZERO English. The "fresh" fruit was old. Most of it should've been in the trash already. When an orange peeling begins to crinkle and dry out like what you would find in a bag of potpourri at Pier 1 Imports- it needs to go into the garbage. The apples and bananas looked just as bad.
There are other nice hotels in the area. I'd recommend staying at a different location for significantly less.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The grounds and the hotel were spotless. The hallways smelled great! Our room had a full sized refridgerator, microwave, mini stove, sink, dishwasher, and a flat screen tv that was about 40". The bed was very comfortable. The hotel was also walking distance from stores and restaurants. When in the area again, we will definitely stay here again.
I checked into the hotel in Aprol 2013. I am an Elite member so when I want a specific room normally I can get it or an upgrade. I got a king study room with a kitchenette first floor even at 11:00 PM. It was clean. No wear on the carpets. Full sized refrigerator. Electric stove and dishwasher. Wall air conditioner. Seperated bathroom with a door. Even a doorbell outside the room. Study desk was old. Ergonomic chair. Lots of lower lighting in hall. 46 inch TV.
Free WIFI. Tub was clean but shower was weak because they have some kind of water saving showerhead on it. Takes double the time to get it done. Bed was comfy. Extra blanket in closet and pillow and lots of closet space. Full sized iron and ironing board. 6 cup Coffeemaker with Folgers Coffee (which I do not like). Toilet is gravity flush 1.6 gallon. No chips or wear on room paint. You can hear people in the next room if they are talking close to the wall. I was not bothered since they went to bed. Pets allowed. Dog barking somethimes can be heard. Nonsmoking hotel.
Couch in room that makes into a sofa bed. Coffee table. Lots of parking but they have a back gate they lock to the back entrance at midnight. You have to use a side entrance after that or lobby entrance. So if you park there to unload into the room do it before midnight. This is a busy place. I had a disabled sticker so parking was anyplace. BUT even on weekdays if you get there late you may not get a close spot and have to park in a lot across from the hotel. No security that I saw. There is another hotel there about 100 yds away. Best approach is to come off of Rayford Sawdust but I know the area and turned off early and used the access road from an overpass. They had a pool in the back but I did not use it. Exercise room. They have a large business room with two LCD screens and chairs and a printer. Full breakfast in this LaQuinta with eggs, waffles, sausage, yogurt, orange juice, coffee, cereals, bananas, toast, apples, oatmeal, and pastries.
The staff was very friendly and polite. Good place to crash for a business meeting! Parking was kind of short though. Had to find a place. Maybe they were just very busy but it seemed there was not enough places for the size of hotel.
I enjoyed my stay at the La Quinta Inn & Suites as I have come to expect. The front desk clerk by the name of Daniel was very friendly and accommodating. I asked for a quiet room and Daniel gave me room #335 which is on the top floor and in the corner.
Monday morning as I left the hotel, I enjoyed the continental breakfast that was provided for the guest. It was very tasteful and filling and lasted me on my drive back home to Princeton, Texas.
