"I'm thankful it was not an emergency!"

Very disappointed with this Gallup La Quinta (3880 East Hway 66) , and with the La Quinta chain.
The entrance to this facility is poorly maintained. There are missing bricks, etc. in the front walkway.I fell when trying to bring my luggage in and sustained several scrapes and bruises. This happened at around 4:20 PM on a Thursday in May. I reported it immediately to the desk clerk who asked if she should call an ambulance. I declined but requested that a manager call me and was assured that one would as soon as available. I then went to my room, cleaned and bandaged the wounds, and filled out the requested incident report. When no manager called after several hours my husband asked the clerk when we could expect to hear from one. She became belligerent and called 911 even though she again was told it was not necessary. We had the embarrassment of having to explain to the 911 operator who contacted us that the call was fraudulent and initiated by someone who was specifically told not to call.
In frustration, I wrote to the customer care e-mail address on the La Quinta website. The auto reply confirmed that the concern had been received. On Friday morning a Gallup manager finally did call to inquire if I was OK, agreed that the entrance was dangerous, and apologized for the delay. Clearly, the motel had been operating without a responsible chain of command.
I have not heard from the corporate office at all?even though I sent and they acknowledged receipt of another ?letter of concern.? They do not seem to be interested in the welfare of their customers.
For many reasons, it is best not patronize a company that from the corporate level down to the local one displays such poor management .
A bit pricey for what you get. Breakfast average. Room clean and bed comfortable. AREA very beautiful. Don't miss Red Rock Park or Navajo tacos. Hotel very accessible from Interstate 40. Travel into town (route 66?) for more selection of places to eat.
I decided to upgrade & I'm so glad I did. It was just what a weary traveler with a moody pet needed after a VERY LONG drive. The young lady who checked me in was great. She had several guests coming up to her, the phones ringing & staff calling her but she remained calm under pressure. The facility was nice & the pet walk in the rear is a nice touch. The continental breakfast could use a little sprucing up. My only complaints were: the hotel needed more frequent trash pick-ups in the public areas & I wish there were more stores/shops in the area. Otherwise great choice. Would stay again.
The king room that we stayed in was clean and the breakfast was nice. The price, even with an AARP discount, was more than it probably should've been. However, the overall experience was a nice one. The check in clerk was friendly and suggested a restaurant for dinner. The check out clerk was pleasant as well. We would stay her again if we are in the area.
I stayed at this location on two occasions for a week at a time. Found the rooms clean and the hotel staff very pleasant. The breakfast was always on time and was fresh. The eating area was light and clean. The hotel is pet friendly and there was never a problem with noise from the animals that I observed. When I first arrived I thought that the trains, over a hundred a day, would cause a problem when it came to sleeping, but found that it was not a problem. I would recommend to anyone in business or just on a trip with the family.
