"Filthy bathroom"

Hotel staff were very friendly. I am a Platinum member and love staying at La Quinta. You normally cannot find a better hotel for the money. I have stayed at this Las Cruces hotel before and it was great. This time the bathroom was filthy when I checked in and the housekeeping staff had not cleaned the toilet after the last guest and never cleaned it for the first week I was there. I complained to the front desk, who took my complaint seriously and had the housekeeper clean it. She did a half baked job as it was still full of black mildew after she cleaned it. I ended up cleaning it myself. I was there for 10 days and they never mopped the bathroom floor. It was dusty behind the toilet when I checked in; more proof it wasn't cleaned after the last guest. I will avoid this Las Cruces in the future.

"A Night At La Quinta--Las Cruces (the older one)."

My arrival was late (after 10:PM), and I went to the wrong La Quinta to begin with. The desk clerk simply told me she couldn't find a record of my reservation, and directed me to the other hotel a block away. There was no problem once I got there, and the room was splendid. It had everything I hoped for--including two queen-sized beds, which was total excess for a single person. They also have a continental breakfast, which I had enjoyed a year ago, and it was every bit as good as I remembered. The price was reduced for "older Americans", and I am looking forward to staying there again next year.

"Disappointing, not clean, terrible beds and a/c"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Jul 22, 2014

This hotel was a disappointment in multiple ways. Foremost, our rooms were not clean. We reserved two rooms and both bathrooms were dirty. The floors had not been mopped or thoroughly swept. Dirt and grime was visible around the perimeter of the room, by a good four to six inches. A dirt ring was on the tile from where the garbage can had previously resided and the entire floor was sticky. The shower floor was filthy--I was thankful for my flip flops and tried not to touch the walls or shower curtain. There was what looked like remnants of a lougie in the sink, also. The bathroom doors were in need of cleaning, painting, and repair, as well.  The beds were too soft and not in the cute Goldilocks way. They were swayback-mattresses (all four of them), so the inhabitants ended up snuggling uncomfortably in the middle, whether they wanted to or not. They are double beds, not queen size, but we knew that going in, since it is La Quinta. The sheets were clean and there were no bedbugs (I check in every hotel room, now, no matter how nice).  The air conditioner was much too small for the room (and the room was not large). We had it set for as low as it could go (60 degrees) and it was still warm in the room. None of us slept through the night, because of the heat. The ac shut off several times, as if it had reached the maximum cold of 60 degrees, but the thermostat must have been wrong. It was very uncomfortable.  One of the lamps in the room did not work, which meant there was only one other source of light.  There was a mid-size (36"?) flat screen television in the room that had good color and sound. It was easy to work with a good variety of channels, though not a lot of channels.  The outer door to the building where our room was located was supposed to be locked and only those with room keys could enter by swiping. That security measure was non-existent, because the door nearest to the ice machine was unlocked the entire time we stayed there.  Our neighbors decided to play some wake-up-get-ready-for-the-day music in the morning and we could hear every lyric through the walls. I don't believe they had it cranked up, there just isn't much insulation in the walls, so we could hear them with clarity.  The included breakfast had the least amount of choices I have seen in a very long time. I looked around for another table that had to be there, but wasn't. There was ONE waffle maker (with a 2.5 minute cook time and the prep included, just having three people waiting meant 10 minutes before you could begin your waffle!), hard boiled eggs in the shell, yogurt (presented in a container with ice, but the yogurt was more warm than cold), apples, 2 kinds of muffins, bagels & bread (with ONE four-slice toaster), peanut butter, cream cheese, butter, and cereal (non-sweetened Cheerios and Corn Flakes) with milk. We opted against the waffle, because of the wait, and debated whether we wanted to grab a dollar breakfast at the nearby McDonald's.  The staff was pleasant, but that cannot make up for all of the unpleasantness in the establishment. They need not only attention to detail, but also a look at the big picture. I am sure they don't get much return business--at least not from us!

"Not great, not terrible"

Was on Federal Grand Jury duty for a year and had to travel to Las Cruces every month. Staff was very friendly and the requested room was given to me all but twice. Only real problem was the wi-fi was not that good. Location to the court house was very nice. McDonalds and Applebee's across the street and a Wal Mart and Cracker Barrel was across another street. Very close to the interstate (10) yet noise was minimal. Very reasonable.

We stayed 2 nights. It had clean rooms and a nice pool. the rooms were not too expensive. All the staff was friendly and helpful. It was pet friendly. The only thing was the room was too warm during the night. I also noticed the lobby was warm. Otherwise good place to stay.
