"Nice for price, great location"

Last minute trip, room was decently priced. Front desk staff pleasant, checkin was quick. Probably one of the quieter hotels we've ever stayed in at the beach. Air conditioning was really nice and worked well. It was close to beach and eating places. We would stay here again. Make sure to eat at Saltgrass next door. Excellent food.
Pros -
it's in walking distance to the beach, however the staircase directly in front of the hotel is under water so you must walk about 100 yards to the next stair case.
It's in walking distance to pleasure pier (200 yards or so) , Denny's, salt grass, Benno's on the beach (delicious) and millers grill.
Rooms are fairly clean
Air conditioner works very well
The general manager is very friendly and wants you to have a good stay, I recommend going straight to her with your problems as the staff isn't very friendly or helpful.
Cons
The pool was filthy and cold. It was also closed a lot during the stay due to poor chemical levels but even after if opened it was sooooo dirty and full of floating trash. Did not use because of filth.
There were roaches crawling all around the pool area and laundry area.
Absolutely no parking, you will be fighting for parking spots, or finding yourself returning to the hotel early to try and get a spot in the front and not the creepy back.
Breakfast was gross, staff was also kind of rude when it was about 855 am, staff tried to put up the waffle maker while my waffle was still cooking....
The hotel is really dated on the outside
Pet friendly so lots of barking
I would recommend staying here if you're on a budget. It's not terrible but its not luxurious by all means. If you plan on staying at the beach and just staying at the hotel to sleep and not use the pool I would stay here. If you want a nice pool, stay somewhere else. I will stay again.
This is an excellent place to stay when in Galveston. Beach right across the street with red light at intersection so its easy and safe to get to the beach. Strand district close by. Dennys is right next door and lots of other great restarunts close by.
This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this hotel. They are one of the only in Galveston that accepts dogs. Clean, quiet rooms. Easy beach access right across the street. Dennys next door. Saltgrass within walking distance. Murdochs and Pleasure Pier just down the seawall. I love this hotel!! Anytime i go to Galveston, this is where I stay.
Look here's the deal... It's nothing glamerous. It's a place to rest your head. Hotel is old, but rooms are modern and fairly clean. The drapes in our room smelled like cigarette smoke but the rest of the room was fine. We didn't see any roaches in the bathroom or any left over towells in the bathroom (people make mistakes). Staff was very friendly like everyone says in the other reviews. It's a good compromise between cost and perks. There's no real beach access as sand is eroded at that location on the seawall but you can walk 200-300 feet either direction and get to some sand. My wife and I appeared to be the only folks in the hotel that didn't smoke cigs or have a dog, but people were being respectful of each other. We didn't feel unsafe during our stay. The breakfast was your standard continental breakfast.
