"An Overall Average Experience"

I went to Pittsburgh for a girls' getaway weekend and stayed at LaQuinta on McKnight Road. We reserved the room online a few weeks before, and the front desk checked us in quickly and without incident. Our room was on the second floor, which had access by either the staircase from the lobby or the elevator. As soon as we walked into the room, we were hit with a very stale odor. It smelled like the air in the room had not been circulated for quite some time, and though we got used to it after being in the room, every time we re-entered the same musty odor was still there. We turned the air conditioning on to circulate the air throughout the room, and when the time came for the heat at night, it smelled like the heater was burning off dust giving a very unpleasant odor as well. The lighting inside the room was poor to say the least. In the evening without the light from the window, there were hardly any lights except for the nightstand and the dim glow of the television. It made putting on makeup and otherwise seeing in the mirror difficult if the bathroom was in use. The amenities of the room were pretty standard - with the added bonus of a refrigerator and a microwave inside the room, but we didn't stay long enough to need either of them. We took advantage of the continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and there was plenty of seating and food available. The variety was impressive - everything from hot eggs and home fries to waffles to fresh fruit and yogurt. The morning staff in the breakfast area was very pleasant and friendly, and kept the breakfast area neat, clean, and well-stocked. We were VERY displeased to be woken up early on Sunday morning by a dog barking right outside our hotel door in the hallway, however. I wasn't aware the hotel was pet-friendly prior to checking in, and didn't see (or hear) any other pets while we were there, but it was very disarming to wake up on my day off to incessant barking. The experience overall was pretty on par with what I would expect. There were both good and bad aspects to the stay, but there was nothing SO SPECIAL that would cause me to return there except for the location. It is centrally located in the North Hills close to shopping, restaurants, and access to 279 to get into the city quickly and easily.

"This place needs remodeled"

I stayed here because I knew this hotel as the old holiday inn and it was one of the nicer hotels in the area. As soon as I arrived it appeared things might be different but I kept at it since I had been driving from Michigan with two kids and a dog. Our first room smelled of must and mold...ugh...our shower was broke and there was old dirty wash clothes in the room. Our room was changed after talking to the lady who checked us in. The second rooms smell was a bit better and it wasn't til later that night I noticed there was used soap and open shampoo in the shower...ugh....then looking up I realized there was a big circle of black mold on our bathroom ceiling...it was a bad experience over all...we ended up going to Cranberry and staying at another hotel. My advice would be to travel 10 more minutes north up the road to Cranberry or 10 minutes south to town and choose a nicer rated hotel.

I stayed here for a week on business. The rooms were clean and well equipped. They had a very nice breakfast and the location was very convenient to the city and plenty of restaurants. Clean well equipped rooms.

"Great Changes Here"

Formerly a lousy Holiday Inn, the new Laquinta is so much better. New beds, great staff and an awesome new manager Scott, made our stay really enjoyable. Customer service was great and will stay here again. Manager and staff made sure there was fresh coffee ready as we were starting our day early in am.

"Great service, very clean rooms, and excellent free breakfast"

I needed a hotel at a short notice and was referred to the La Quinta Inn on McKnight Road in Pittsburgh. I had a very positive experience with the staff and the clean and tastefully decorated rooms. Staff were exceptionally polite, prompt, and helpful. The free breakfast was way beyond my expectations with hot items including eggs, sausage, waffles, and so much more. I have never seen a free breakfast include that many items, including hot items. Overall, the whole experience was wonderful.
