The rooms are large! No trouble with 2 dogs, medium size. The heating/cooling system worked well and was not noisy, in both rooms I stayed at on two occasions. Bathroom is spacious enough and typical of this level hotel, clean and adequate, plenty of counter space. This particular location is very convenient for me for where I was traveling to and is right across the street from King's Dominion, which I will keep in mind for later!. I wish I had found out before I went that there is a pool and hot tub in the hotel, and a gym, another thing to keep in mind for next time. Great amenities! Breakfast is free and includes eggs and sausage, a waffle maker, cereal, bagels, etc. Quality is OK. The staff were not always at the desk but responded quickly and were courteous. I think this hotel is a great deal for the price and I had a very good stay.
This hotel is located across the street from the amusement park, which is closed at this time of year. It was very quiet there as there were only a few travelers staying there. The staff is nice, the room was huge and it was nice and clean. The side entrance card acceptor was broken so you could go out but not back in. Some people put things to prop the door open when they went out. Even though it was not a busy area at all, that still felt uncomfortable
The room doors slam loudly and I was startled awake a couple times with others taking their dogs out.
There is not much for food right by the hotel so as another reviewer stated you have to go to the next exit to get something. I thought of that as I was getting close to the exit, but the numbers skip and before I knew it I was at the exit, after 8 hours driving I didn't want to back track. So a Burger King salad was dinner. Anyway glad I had some apples and nuts with me. It looks like the front desk also sells some microwave dinners but I just saw them in passing. I don't eat those but I'm sure it is a lifesaver for other travelers.
Overall it was a good, quiet and convenient stay at this LQ.
I stayed at the La Quinta inn 10/26 - 10/28 and it was overall a great experience.
My fiance and I stayed to go to the halloween haunt and it was the perfect location. We were actually able to walk right to the park and save $15 on parking.
When we entered the room we were amazed at how spacious it was. It had a very large bathroom, a living area with a couch and a king sized bed. It also contained a flat screen television which a lot of budget hotels do not have. The value was excellent, for two nights we only paid about $150.
The free breakfast left a little to be desired but it's free so we weren't expecting a gourmet meal or anything. All in all it was a great experience, in the future we will look for La Quinta properties to stay at if they're all this nice :)
The hotel was fairly new, rooms spotless and the best staff ever. they were very friendly and sweet, helpful to the highest degree. Our reservation date was incorrect and they immediately took care of it. The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. the location is ok, you must travel to another exit to go for good restaurants but that's only 5 minutes away. a very good ponderosa also with great service and food. Finally my wife lost her wedding ring while at the hotel, she was very upset but our sadness turned to a great day as by the time we got to Delaware the staff called us and informed us their extensive search found the ring and we made arrangements for it to be sent to us. Thanks Laquinta Kings Dominion staff especially Rishi, Hope and Kevin for a great stay and making our trip end well.
My sister and I stayed here for two night the past weekend while we went to King's Dominion for Halloween Haunt. This is not my first time staying at this hotel, but it will be the last. I've stayed here before back when the people who own it used to run it as a Comfort Inn & Suites and it looks like it's never going to change.
Check in was fast.
The rest of it was nothing but disgust.
I noticed a few things like someone else's hair on the towels and dirty spots, but nothing too bad because we didn't have time to really check out the room since we basically just threw down our bags and headed to the park. By the time we got back we were so tired that we just fell into our beds. Same thing the next morning, got ready and headed straight for the park. It wasn't until we got back that we noticed just how disgusting the room was because my sister lost an earring that we looked for.
The things we found were dog food on the floor (we didn't bring any dogs with us) along with chip crumbs and peanuts (we didn't eat in the room either). I would like to point out that they weren't hidden behind things like the refrigerator or something, they were in plain view. We just didn't notice them at first because we had thrown our bags on top of most of the stuff when we got into the room. It was like housekeeping only cleaned the major traffic areas in the room. The duvet covers also had not been washed and had caked on stuff all over them that I do not wish to know what it was and the worst of all was the USED CONDOM we found behind the bed. I wish we had done so right then and there, but we decided to wait until we checked out the next morning to bring this all up because it was late and we were tired from walking around King's Dominion all day.
When we brought it up at check out we were told that there was nothing they were going to do about it since we didn't bring it up when we checked in, but that they will have the general manager call us when he got back on Monday. We reluctantly agreed, I left my contact number, and we left. It's now Wednesday and I still haven't received any phone call from the general manager.
I really wish we had taken pictures.
My advice, if you're going to King's Dominion, is to book a hotel in either Ashland or Glen Allen. It's not too far away, the hotels are nice, and you can probably get a better deal.
