"good rest stop for SAN DIEGO Parks"
Reviewed May 21, 2013

We booked this hotel during our SAN DIEGO leg. The location is close to theme parks like Sea World which is a plus for us. The parking entrance was not easy to find though, there was an alley for the entrance just before the corner . We stayed here for 2 nights, and I've missed the alley twice during our short stay and I was using a GPS at that. The parking usually fills up during the evenings, when the patrons come back for the night after a day from the parks. So returning early from a full day out is a plus. The hotel offers a good breakfast buffet with the room and they do allow pets in the hotel. Overall it was a no frills stay, I was actually having a hard time remembering things that stand out about this hotel. :(
I promised to write a review for our stay at this hotel because I always check reveiws myself before I stay somewhere. So I hope this helps you. This hotel is a nice hotel for the price. My family and I were here for 5 nights. I chose this hotel because the rooms were updated, the location was close to everything we were there to do and it was budget friendly. The rooms were nicely updated and clean and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hallways could use a good cleaning (both vacuumed and carpet cleaned). The rooms are a little musty but that is to be expected with the humidity. The hotel location isn't the greatest. It is centrally located to a lot of things but it is somewhat confusing to get to (even with GPS) and the neighborhood is so so. Our room did need a few maintenance things done to it but nothing major. AC, microwave and fridge all worked great. The rooms could be a bit bigger. We had a room with 2 queens and there wasn't much room for luggage and things once you got our family in there. The breakfast was ok, same stuff most mornings (eggs, or omlet, bacon or sausage and the usualy fruit, cereal, waffles, juice, etc.) My family didn't use the pool or hot tub but my mom went down to check it out and said it looked nice. The parking is also a little tricky. Tight spaces and corners to get into. But the parking garage is right next to the elevator which we found very nice. So all in all, the hotel wasnt too bad of a place to stay for a budget friendly place but, I don't think we will be staying here again. But would if we were on a tight budget.
We were on a trip that kind of takes us wherever we wind up, so we didn't really have the leisure of researching hotels. My wife is in the La Quinta rewards program so we started there. This hotel is fairly close to major attractions like Sea World, The Harbor, and some beaches. We found out after the fact, that it was also close to the airport (which became very important). It is located near two major highways which makes it kind of hard to get to. It does offer free parking, which seems to be rare in these parts. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, and a hot breakfast is included in the price. There is a pool and jacuzzi on site as well. This is by no means a luxury hotel (as none of La Quintas are. There are many restaurants and other businesses within walking distance. There are also two computers for guest use in the lobby for printing boarding passes etc, as well as free wi-fi in the rooms. The first night the jacuzzi was not hot, but it worked fine the 2nd night. In our haste to leave the next morning, my wife realized her wallet was missing as we got to the airport on the rental car shuttle. Our flight was boarding in 45 minutes and it was during the morning commute. I hailed a taxi while my wife called the hotel, a housekeeper had retrieved the wallet off the bed intact, and we raced there and back and caught our flight with no problem. An extra kudos to the staff for their honesty! A good value for those who don't need all the luxuries, and pets are allowed.
When we take vacations we usually stay at very nice hotels but for traveling we like more budget friendly places. La Quintas are great because they are pet friendly, reasonably priced and the higher priced ones are usually very clean with much newer decors.
This La Quinta was right off the highway so it's convenience was perfect. It has very nice, clean rooms with fridges & microwaves. The beds are comfortable, the breakfasts are awesome compared to most of the other La Quintas - they had hot items like breakfast meats, gravy & biscuits etc.
The staff was super nice. We were first placed in a handicapped room which didn't work for us because the shower head was only chest high & other such problems. We had all day plans for the next day so we were allowed to leave our belongings in that room until the following evening & then we moved to a regular room; they were so accommodating.
If you need nice room at a budget price, this is an excellent option.
Plus side was the room decor - cool shapes and colors, and the laminate flooring in the bathroom was a welcome change from cold tiles. Minus side was a small room, musty smell in the room, a pool that looked nothing like the picture, unattractive neighborhood, and difficult access. I will choose elsewhere next time.
