"Pleasure Staying at La Quinta"
Reviewed Aug 25, 2014
Thank you La Quinta. It was a nice stay at a nice hotel and I appreciated your service. I don't have any complaints and compliment the service. I don't have anything else to say, but this is forcing me to type more than 200 characters.
Was expecting more. Rooms were very small. The Hotel had an odor to it. Beds weren't bad. You can tell it is an old hotel that has been updated to some degree. The location is really good if you love the beach. Room service is not really room service. You order from some food place and they deliver it to your room. Wait is about 45 minutes. It was an OK place to stay.
Over priced for the the hotel/location. Pictures of hotel are very mis leading. Breakfast was OK, nothing special. Elivator and hall ways smelled like smoke and at times had just an overall fowl smell.
The room was beautiful, the bed was soft, and the sheets were clean. That was great. However, I spent $103 for three nights, then $118 and $132 for the last two nights, a Friday and a Saturday. On Friday, my sister-in-law and I were getting dressed, and my boyfriend was ironing his clothes for my brother's graduation. Then the power went out. We waited a while, then called the front desk. He said he'd check it. Waited another 20 min, then called again. He said he'd check it. Power comes back on and things are great. 10 min later and the power cuts back off. Call him back and he asks how many electronics we're using. We unplugged everything beside one flare iron, the hair dryer, and the iron for clothes. He says he'll recheck it again. Nothing. Whatever, we're late, call my mom and she says we can come to her hotel to fix our hair. On the way out, I stop by the front desk to remind them our power is out and he says "Still??" Ugh. Yeah. Still. We leave and are gone for 6-7 hours, come back, still. No. Power. I go downstairs in a huff. The same man is behind the desk and I guess his boss when I told them I still had no power. The boss comes up with us, texting on his phone the whole time, says he'll take care of it. The power comes back on, but before I can say anything else, he's gone. I loved the room, the location, and the night crew as well as the cleaning staff. But the man behind the desk in the morning left me spitting mad and I felt like he blew me off. Would NOT stay again.

It is a hard entrance way to find but there is a "In and Out Burger" a short walk down the hill away from the hotel. Needed an easy on and off the highway location to begin the college selection process with younger daughter in San Diego. This hotel is comfortable, the folks at the front desk were quite friendly and provided copious info for dining choices in its neighborhood. They spoke quite highly of the "The Broken Yolk" just down Garnet and suggested three Indian restaurants. A feature of La Quinta's', I came to learn, is pets are allowed in the hotel properties. Next time I travel with my wife and need pet friendly lodging we can bring our bevy of dogs to a La Quinta Inn. Easy, help yourself breakfast buffet had a large selection of breakfast items and was easily able to accommodate the very large group of guests who stayed in the hotel the night before. Reasonably priced, free "wifi" and computer in the lobby and it was a very good location for us.
