"Poorly maintained hotel in unsafe area"

A La Quinta traveler |
Pulled in to find 3 different men in 3 different rooms hanging out in the entrances to their rooms drinking alcohol and glaring at everyone who walked by as if they were casing everyone coming through. Across the street is an even sketchier $30/night "motel" where you could see drug deals occurring in broad daylight. The hotel has roving security once dark, but it does little to alleviate the safety concerns. I'm not sure they were doing their jobs though because on multiple occasions, we were woken by some large, tattooed, intoxicated man yelling, screaming and crying loudly outside our room while slamming his door multiple times throughout the night. The room itself had carpeting that was filthy with more stains and sticky spots than clean areas. The room smelled of smoke even though I was informed it was a non-smoking hotel. The shower had mold along the ceiling because the vent fan was broken, and was most likely broken for some time. The tub was plastic and had multiple cigarette burns and stains along the edge from people sitting on the toilet and setting their cigarettes on it. The office chair was stained and had what appeared to be dried "biologic substances" on the seat edge. The high speed internet ended up being slightly better than dial up (0.28 Mbps down per speedtest.net). The hotel is just generally run down and not well maintained at all. Regardless of the area it is in, there is no excuse to be charged a minimum of $70 a night when you can go across the street and get a room for $30 with the same ambiance and neighbors. When asked how my stay was when checking out, I was honest with the lady behind the counter and she comped half of our bill. I wouldn't have stayed, but didn't have much choice. After driving 5 days cross country with 2 kids, my wife and our dog there was no energy left to complain about the room, let alone try to find accommodations elsewhere. I love La Quinta and everything they do for veterans and pet owners. We only stay at La Quinta and can't speak enough good about the company. I would suggest that the corporate offices pay a surprise visit to this location.

"San Jose"

Great makeover, great place to stay. The Remodel is wonderful, the service is always good, we feel comfortable there and it is the place that we always stay in San Jose, California. Close to the airport, great shuttle service. The room prices are higher than we normally pay for a La Quinta, but it is California heck gas is $4.

"Lousy bed and shower"

I use a lot of motels. Many of which allow dogs, and that is not an issue here. In fact I've stayed a lot of motels that serve dogs I would give 3 or 4 stars too. Its the lumpy bed and pillows. And a lousy nights sleep. Years ago (10+) I used to stay here a lot. It was great then. Service was still good. Just poor accommodations. And is La Quinta the last to raise their shower heads? Finally, I cannot have corn. Yet La Quinta, as well as most that serve a continental style breakfast, continues to peddle the corn syrup in everything.

Apparently Elite membership doesn't mean anything at this hotel. Upgrade ignored as well as everything else. The room was as most La Quinta's are. I can't say anything except you have to go to the lobby to get ice. This location does have a pool, but I didn't see any sauna. After my long drive there, I was hoping to use it. My mistake for not calling to double check to see if they had one. From the pictures on line you can't tell.

"Not best quality"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Apr 6, 2014

When we arrived 2 unrelated guests were complaining at the front desk. Property looks OK, nice pool, no Jacuzzi. Room fairly standard like the table provided. Mis-matched chairs one of them had apparently been used by somebody without any underwear, there was a skid mark on it. Bathtub not the picture of cleanliness. We were here on our way to Arizona one night and out. Breakfast was free nothing exciting, but they had waffles (we stuck with the coffee) The bed was comfortable, had black-out drapes. Would probably look elsewhere next time but slept well
