"Staff Great...room average...breakfast late"

We went to Helena for a taekwondo tournament. Out of the two hotels the hosting school reserved, we felt this one would be the best. It is convenient to the two main highways in town. There are two grocery stores within a quarter mile. McDonalds and a couple other restaurants are close by as well.
The hotel itself looks like it has been renovated fairly recently. The front desk staff was always VERY friendly whenever I called to ask questions. When we arrived, our kids needed a place to practice for their tournament the next day. They were very accommodating and let us use thier meeting room.
The showers were hot and the beds were comfortable. Iron, ironing board, microwave, and mini fridge in room. The only thing missing was the pillows on one of our beds. The front desk said they had to take some of our for some reason. However, they did bring us some more to make up for the missing ones.
The one MAJOR disappointment was the breakfast. They said the hotel was completely booked and that breakfast would be at seven. When we arrived in the breakfast area, right at seven, the breakfast things were not set up and the woman setting up seemed a little upset that she was having to rush. When you have a full hotel you need to set up early.
Our kids did not get to eat what they wanted since they were late and we needed to get to our tournament. I would suggest they start breakfast earlier on the weekend, especially when the hotel is full, and get things out sooner. We would have all really loved to have a waffle but it wasn't ready in time.
If it weren't for the breakfast issues I think we would stay here again if we need a place to stay for another tournament. However, due to the time of breakfast starting and the lateness of it being put out, we might look for other options.
We stayed there last summer and it seemed to be getting a little over the hill. It now appears to have a change in management. The staff is courteous and helpful. The location is fine once you figure out how to get in and out. Room features are excellent. Plenty of space, microwave, and fridge. Breakfast was excellent. And most of all, the price is right.
3 friends and I spent a delightful weekend in Helena. The hotel was a perfect home base for our sightseeing. Friendly staff, clean rooms and very comfortable beds. Many Babe Ruth baseball teams were staying in the hotel, but they were very polite kids and were well supervised. Nice breakfast and kudos to the breakfast lady who successfully kept the breakfast items well stocked for many hungry young boys. Would certainly stay there again.
Making the one hour trip from Great Falls to Helena brings us to this La Quinta Inn. There is parking along the side of the inn and also gravel lot for big rigs and more parking at the rear entrance of the hotel. It?s a fair size hotel that I think is a great alternative to a Motel 6, Motel 8, or other motels in the area. Yellow is the predominant colour scheme here including inside. A small front desk, lobby and attached breakfast room. Check In was standard, friendly and one elevator serves the entire hotel beside the front desk. Upon arrival in the long hallway, again, green carpet with lots of yellow walls. Upon entering the room, it was a smaller room, small entrance area, smaller closet and double beds (not queen). The air conditioning unit is fairly decent, one large window, LCD TV, decent size desk. The bathroom has basic toiletries provided, curved shower rod and average size. Fridge, microwave included for your convenience. Although I can?t help but notice a faint, putrid smell lingering every time I enter the room. I could not put my finger on it until I found out that this hotel is a pet-friendly one. Actually, the entire chain is PET FRIENDLY. Yikes. We do not like pets and do not value them so this policy is of course a NO in our books.
Location is very convenient if you do not drive since there are restaurants within walking distance and an Albertson grocery store nearby. Breakfast room was medium sized and stocked with hot items like scramble eggs and bacon. Standard fare of toast, coffee, juice, waffle, fruit, yogurt are offered. For a one night stay, it?s a great alternative to other motels in the area.
Pros:Clean place to stay Great breakfast, suburb service .very comfortable beds. Cons: The outdoor pool is just a little bigger then a bathtub.and the location right on a busy road made it a noisy place.
