"Ky Derby in Louisville"
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Stayed there for the Derby. It was fine, ok...just wished I was closer to Churchill Downs. And, to be fair, rooms all over town are overpriced for the Derby. But they were fine here, would stay again.
This was a wonderful hotel! The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms and hotel in general were clean and updated. I was a little concerned because we were in the room with the elevator behind the wall behind our heads, but I never noticed any noise during the night! Location convenient to many venues in and around Louisville.
"Hospitality? Nope. Would not arrange for my laptop to be sent back to me."

I recently stayed at the La Quinta inn & Suites on Alliant Ave in Louisville. We were part of a large group in town for a volleyball tournament. Louisville is over a 5 hour drive from our home. Because we arrived mid-week, I brought my briefcase and laptop with me so I could keep up with work-related matters during the trip. Unfortunately, the morning we checked out, I accidently left the briefcase and laptop in the room. Later that night, when I realized I had left it behind, I called the hotel. I was very relieved to hear from the gentlman at the front desk that the briefcase was there. I asked him if the laptop was in it, and he said he didn't open it up. I then asked if I could give him my contact information so he could send it back to me. He said they don't do that and I would have to wait until the next morning to speak to the manager. So, first thing the next morning I called the hotel again and spoke to the manager. He said that they do not ship items back to customers and that I would have to arrange for Fedex or UPS to come to the hotel. I asked if he at least had a box to put the briefcase in and he said not at that moment, but he might have one later in the week. I explained that I needed my laptop overnighted and could not wait several days. He apologized and said there was nothing he could do. Luckily, I work for a large corporation and we happen to have a customer located in Louisville. Our customer left work, drove several miles to the hotel, picked up my briefcase, and made sure it was overnighted to me. La Quinta was unwilling to help this process in any way. I called the manager and let him know I was disappointed in how this was handled. He said he was sorry I felt that way. I have never stayed in a hotel where a customer living 5 hours away was supposed to figure out how to retrieve a forgotten item. Thank goodness I could count on my customer to help me! Short of that, I would have had to drive 10 hours round trip to claim my laptop.
We stayed at the LaQuinta this past weekend with our kids during a weekend trip to Louisville. The two queen bed room was spacious and nicely decorated/furnished. Our room was very clean and we well maintained during our stay. We stayed on the third floor and it was quiet. There were several restaurants in the surrounding area and the hotel was easy to navigate to (just off of I-64). We didn't use the pool or fitness room, but we took a look and both seemed nice and maintained. The only complaint that I had was the breakfast. It was to be served until 9:30 a.m. on the weekends. We arrived just before 9:00 a.m. and the juice and gravy were both out. Juice was replaced while we ate, but the gravy was never refilled. I guess it was just too close to closing time. Also, they only had one person running the front desk and tending to the breakfast area, so he was running back and forth. They could use another person designated just to breakfast. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
First time at this La Quinta....never again. Small kids upstairs made so much noise jumping and running, the smoke alarm fell off our ceiling. Woman at the desk tried to blame traveling baseball team for the noise, and they were not even in that room....I told her it was small children as I had seen them. Requested another room, and was offered that room for $30 more than I paid because it had a whirlpool tub...now would you not think they would have given me that room for the same price as I paid due to inconvenience! Also...was assured the fire alarm was to be fixed that day, as we were staying 2 nites.....no one ever came to fix it ,and it wasn't functioning since it fell off the ceiling......not really a safe room if it didn't work. Terrible breakfast.....juice was water....all pastries and doughnuts gone....nothing but cereal and waffles.
