"Too noisy for comfort"

A La Quinta traveler |
We came to town with family for a birthday event and stayed one night at the La Quinta Inn at Toepperwein. The room was okay but the beds were old and not comfortable. Also other people were coming into their rooms at or around 3 am. There was a lot of outside noise that kept us awake. They were talking loud, playing music, drinking, arguing, and using profanity. The breakfast area was very small and overrun with people. We could hardly walk through them to get to the counter to check out of the hotel. We decided to go somewhere else for breakfast.
I called as soon as we checked into our room letting the front desk know our toilet had mold in it and the tub was dirty. Housekeeping came but only moved the shower curtin and gave us new soap. We were only staying one night so just sucked it up but never again!!!
This is an older La Quinta that I found to be clean and comfortable. Service at check-in and check-out was friendly and professional.
Don't Judge this book by the cover. It's an older La Quinta, sure, but they're undergoing a thorough rehab and redecoration. (They make that clear with several lobby displays.) My room was clean, fresh, and new. Pillows were fluffy, linens were fresh, towels were brand-new, and the pillowtop mattress made for a great night's sleep.
At check-in I specifically asked for one of the remodeled rooms, on ther ground floor, and near the office. I got what I asked for, but it appeared that not all rooms had been remodeled yet. It seemed that, in late April anyway, rooms on the east side of the property hadn't yet gone through renovation.
Despite its location near 1-35 and 1604 (and its proximity to the Randolph area) this is a modestly priced La Quinta. Even though my stay coincided with San Antonio's Fiesta celebration, this La Quinta didn't raise prices.
My short stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
Stayed at 3 different Laquintas in San Antonio last year. I stayed at this one the most because of its location. It is not the best La Quinta in town but I felt safe and the rooms were pretty decent. The price was very nice and the Service was excellent. I spent 3-4 days on three different occasions due to military related travel. The breakfast is adequate and there is a wonderful Mexican restaurant in the same parking lot. I wish I could remember the name to review it. I would stay at this location again if I ever went back to San Antonio for any reason. There are others that are a lot nicer but they are either downtown or 15-20 miles further away. The military hospital is only 3 minutes away.
This is one of the nicest and cleanest and friendliest LQ's I've experienced. I had a large room with all new furniture. The work station was perfect and it had the nicest mesh office chair. The bed linen and towels were far nicer than many LQ's and it was spotlessly clean. Although there was a sports team there the throng of teenagers didn't slow the breakfast staff or desk staff at all. They kept up with supplying food and cleaning as they went. The security guard was also friendly and helpful and made his rounds with a smile and attention to detail. Upon check out the staff said a heart felt thank-you and invited me to come back real soon and it seemed sincere!
