Haven't thought highly of La Quinta in the past for some reason. But this hotel changed my mind. I was in the area for work and brought my family with for a vacation for them. They absolutely loved the pool. One of the best outdoor hotel pools I've seen. The breakfast was one of the best free hotel breakfasts I've had. Staff was very friendly room was clean and my bes was very comfortable. That being said I will stay here again if I'm in town for work again.
We have stopped here the last three years on our way to our beach vacation (it makes the 14 hour drive much more bearable to make it two days). We love the pool and hot tub! We get a great night's sleep and the breakfast before we hit the road is better (and way faster) than anything we could get at a restaurant!

Stayed four nights while attending Hickory Crawdads baseball games (Low-A South Atlantic League affiliate of the Texas Rangers). Many pluses, starting with the omlette chef, on duty from 6-9a -- cooked-to-order eggs starts off any day great. Very nice pool and fitness center. Midsize fridge and microwave in room helps -- stock up at the main Lowes Food on 14th St downtown, upscale grocer. Short drive to the ballpark. Valley Hills Mall is nearby. Check out new upscale restaurant Highland Avenue.
Some minuses: a full afternoon hot water outage (repairs); business center printers/computers out of order; bathroom is cramped; you might hear a yapping dog shut in someone's room.
We have stayed at LaQuinta before and loved their quality and value. Most are pet friendly. We didn't travel with our furry family but like the fact that it is an option. Wish there were more locations, as I would like to only stay at LaQuinta !
We were in Hickory for my daughter's gymnastics meet the hotel was very nice and clean and staff were very friendly, I would definitely stay there again . We were con ineptly located to shopping and dining
