"All depends on the price"

We had a room that fitted the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 teenage kids), for a very good price : 150USD, night breakfast included. Of course 2 teenagers in one bed is not ideal, but sometimes you need to compromise. Some pro's and con's of the hotel:
+ staff is nice, they printed directions and kept luggage on the last day
+ breakfast (very basic) included
+ neighborhood - not special, but felt safe
+ metro 10 minute walk
- room was ok clean, but found M&M's under bed...
- ordered a car to airport, they said it would be ~80 USD, but was over 100 USD.
- to go to mid manahattan (eg Museum of Natural History) takes an hour, taxi at night 30-40USD
We loved this place! nice and close to the subway. We were able to do so much in NYC because we saved on the hotel, and easily could take the train into the city.
The rooms were great, nice and clean and very functional. We like the breakfast, there were plenty of items we could just take to go as they were pre-wrapped. We will definitely stay here again!
First, I realize this is a La Quinta. I have avoided these places like the plague my entire life, they just look gross! This one is currently being remodeled and I know this for a fact because construction continued until 1 a.m. Who does construction inside of hotel rooms near occupants until 1 a.m.? La Quinta Downtown Brooklyn that's who. I called the front desk at 11:30 p.m. because I was exhausted and the guy told me he had no idea when they would be finished and I should speak to the manager in the morning about receiving a discount. I was not seeking a discount only peace, but ok sir thanks! I didn't contact the manager, because I don't plan to go back...EVER. Worse than the construction was the amount of hair and dust all over the place. The person who cleaned the room had the guts to actually fill out the place card and declare the room as clean (laughable). There was hair IN THE BED, in the bathroom, wrapped up in the washcloth (there was only 1 in the room), everywhere. The hair was not hidden either, it was in all of the most obvious places to look, like on the pillow for instance, so clearly this room had not been cleaned. I'm convinced the sheets were not washed, merely used to make up the bed again for the next sucker...me. If they were washed, then the cleaning person decided to brush her hair all over the room before leaving...a parting gift!?! The manager had the nerve to send an automated survey...sir you know the establishment sucks. BTW there are approx. 8 parking spaces, so get there early or you'll be parking on the street and walking in Brooklyn.
Affordable place to stay and very close to the subway. Easy access to Manhattan. The rooms are very clean, and the staff is great. Its a really cool hotel, the staff upbeat and helpful. I recommend this hotel to travelers who are visiting NYC and don't want to pay the outrageous prices for hotels in Manhattan. Breakfast was great, you can take a lot of items to go as they are pre-packaged. I will definitely come back
This is a very nice, but compact property. The rooms are small, but very clean and well appointed. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend you ask for a room away from the elevator. The location is sort of commercial/industrial so don't expect a great view from your room, but then we found the price very reasonable. The only downer here was a high priced "business center" computer & printer. Wi-fi was excellent however, so bring your own laptop.
