"Just old"

Overall our stay was very pleasant. The room was clean. The staff was excellent. Breakfast did not even have hard boiled eggs like other LaQuintas. The building is just old and rooms lead to the outside not into a hallway.

"Great potential lost by penny-pinching"

We stayed at this LaQuinta for 3 nights because of the wonderful pet friendly policies of the chain (we stay at many la quintas every year). This was the first property that severely disappointed us. The building was fine, furniture and beds were good, and the a/c worked great, but the extreme penny pinching ruined our stay and we probably won't return. No cream at breakfast for coffee, light weight plastic utensils so flimsy they won't spread butter, only 2-in-1 hair rinse, no bath gel, face soap, or lotion, not even trash bags for the bins in the room! Additionally, our bathroom lights kept flickering and the wall plates on the outlets nearly came out of the wall. The owner needs to realize that the little things do matter and that by skimping on quality, they're losing more money in sales than they're saving in costs. Other notable advice: the shower heads are quite low, which isn't a problem for most people, but for 6'+ travelers (like us) it might be a pain. More attentive maintenance and better quality products would make this a more pleasant la quinta to visit.

"Would not visit"

I have stayed at multiple La Quinta Inns from AZ, CO, etc. This one is the only one that I would NOT recommend. The staff failed to remove ~1/2 of the garbage from our room from one day to the next. The staff attempted to debate with customers on whether or not the coffee was out instead of checking on it. Wifi would only connect above the table and no where else in the room.

"Garden of the Gods"

This facility is older but has been upgraded. Need to find a solution to the mildew smell in the rooms from the shower curtains. Might be time to replace mattresses. We would recommend this location due to easy access to and from the Academy. The price is not as high as some of the other area hotels. It does feel safe and the ease on & off I25 is great. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Had no issues with the check in or check out, this has been our 3rd stay at this location.

"Not As Great As I Had Hoped"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 1, 2014
Amy W | San Diego, California
Had stayed in this same hotel about 9 months ago, and it seems to have gone downhill since then. Checked in at 2:00 a.m. after working then traveling all day. Was forewarned by the front desk clerk that the room may have an odor. Asked upfront for a room that she knows would be okay, and ended up in a room that smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. We were so tired that we just wanted to crash. None of us slept well due to the smell and the loud train that ran directly behind the building. We felt like we were suffocating from the fumes, and finally at 6:00 a.m. went to the front desk to ask for a different room. Same front desk girl was pleasant and allowed me to check out the room prior to moving. That room was on the other side of the hotel, no smell, no train. Breakfast was very lacking and the coffee like mud. Ate out every morning. On two occasions verified our checkout for Monday the 1st, however, both times they said they had us down to check out on Tuesday. The reservations were made online with a clear check out on Monday the 1st. The towels in the rooms aren't soft at all and are big enough to cover a big toe. The beds are incredibly small as well as the rooms. We will definitely be staying elsewhere when visiting again.
