"Smaller Beds than Advertised"
Reviewed May 13, 2013
Gina H | Centerton, Arkansas
We were told that the beds would be queens. They were doubles. I can tell because my husband and I have slept in a queen before, and we had no issues with both of us fitting on the bed. One of my legs had to constantly hang off of the side of this bed. We are not large people by any means. Also, the room was exceptionally small. They had repainted, but it was obvious that the building was deteriorating underneath the new coats of paint. Our room was on the back side of the hotel, which is inconveniently right across from a train track. We had difficulty sleeping due to the engines coming through all night and the small, uncomfortable beds. I have stayed in similarly priced hotels in this area, and this one is by far the worst.
The only redeeming quality was the continental breakfast which was still lacking. There was a wide variety of foods available (waffles, cereal, yogurt, muffins, etc...). However, this breakfast lacked any meaningful protein source (yogurt has a trivial amount of protein, but nothing compared to eggs).
The room was very clean. I felt comfortable sleeping between the sheets without fear of bedbugs. Even the floor was clean. I was disappointed that the little packet in the bathroom only contained coffee. I really needed some tea, but that's minor and could be improved by just adding a couple of teabags to the packet.
Since this hotel is located adjacent to I-25, there was a lot of road noise during the night. Otherwise everything was great and I would stay there again.
We stay at a lot of La Quintas and have stayed multiple times at this location. You can't beat the price and even though it is an older hotel, the rooms are always clean. Also, they have updated the rooms! New carpet, bedding, headboards, etc. I was very impressed. As for the front desk, the man who checked us in was super fast and efficient as well as friendly. The breakfast was nice, just the standard hotel fare, but we don't typically eat a large or fancy breakfast. One note of interest, there is a restaurant in the same parking lot that is absolutely excellent and worth checking out!
The room was okay, and the location is okay, but I totally agree with whoever wrote the review a few back titled "Lacking". One of my worst La Quinta experiences, and I've stayed at a lot. I'm used to warmer people at reception. These people were the most cold and unhelpful people I have ever dealt with in a La Quinta stay. Housekeeping was great, though. I wouldn't stay there again. There are a lot of other great hotels in the area that I'm sure would try harder to make you feel welcome.
On one of the nights we were awaken by guests at midnight in room next door screaming (doing? not sure I want to know)and noise outside balcony at midnight. I must say the front desk was very accommodating an moved us to a much quieter location. They even checked with us to make sure we were happy with our new room.
Bath tub had a bubble of water that squished when you stood in shower. Overall it was clean but in an industrial area. Breakfast was good and area was always clean.
