"A big disappointment"

We normally stay at the LaQuinta in Macon on River Place Dr. We stayed there on the way to Ohio and saw that the pool was closed due to renovations. This was not a big deal because we did not arrive until 8:00pm. So on the return trip we decided to stay at the LaQuinta on Chambers Dr, because they had a pool and we were traveling with 7 and 9 year old boys. We thought it would be early enough on our arrival that's the boys could get rid of some energy. We figured it would be worth the $20 + dollars for the pool. Wow were we disappointed. The check in was nice and easy, but the room was very tiny compared to our favorite LaQuinta. After we returned from dinner, we took. the boys to the pool. It was filthy! So dirty could not even see the bottom of the pool (what a liability ), the hot tub was also filthy, it looked more like a spa filled with milk. What a joke! Then we tried to go to our 3rd floor room, only to find a young boy stuck In the elevator, the desk attendant said she would try fix it, instead of calling the fire department . Duh. It must have happened before. Three flights of stairs not easy for elderly people with luggage! The positives were: the room was clean, and the free breakfast was nice. Was not worth the price for the unpleasant visit!
I have read the reviews and to the ONE who complained cause they were put near a room with a dog, DON'T stay in one of the only hotels that allows dogs for FREE! Ugh stupidity is inevitable with some. Read the reviews first and know this is a hotel for dogs!
Any who....the room was awesome for just passing through. We got the king suite and our 7 year old loved it so much so she did not want to leave for dinner and wanted to order dinner in.
I wrote this review the night we stayed before we checked out to be able to give a review on the breakfast but that's ok as we with pets are at the mercy of hotels who will take us dog loving people. We are extremely grateful to the accommodations that we get and to get such great accommodations that WE do is a blessing. SO thank you LA Quinta for giving US dog lovers a place to stay that is great and comfortable and not a pit.
And to the Non-dog owners please find another place to stay if you have a problem with US dog lovers as the bad review YOU give is a mark against the ONLY hotel that will welcome us Dog Lovers for NO charge. Last time I checked US dog owners out number the Non dog owners:) and La Quinta is doing something smart by allowing us in to their hotel.
Thank you La Quinta
I have no problem with people with dogs staying at the Hotel, but they should not be given a room beside people who have no dog. Then they go out leave the dog alone and the people without the dog have listen to the dog barking for hours. This is very inconsiderate and selfish.
The hotel was beautiful and check in was a breeze. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. The room was reasonably priced but we were surprised by they high tax rate. Our room was well furnished and clean as was the breakfast area. We enjoyed our stay.
My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed here one night on our way to Disney World. The room and beds were very comfortable. The pool was enough to wear the kids out after a day sitting in the car. I noticed the hotel allows pets and it seemed everyone walking through the lobby had a dog, but we noticed no dog smell or dog hair in the room. Breakfast was better than expected with the highlight for my kids being make-your-own waffles. My only complaint was the hot tub was luke-warm at best. Would stay here again!
