Beware of making reservations at this hotel. My family and I booked reservations as Dumas made a great stopping point for our trip. We arrived at 8:30pm and found they had no rooms available. In fact, there was another family similar to ours that were in the same predicament as us. When we both presented our confirmation numbers we were told by the lady working the front desk, "Don't know what to tell you, we don't have any rooms." We were subsequently left to our own devices to find another hotel. Have never been treated so rudely and with such a lack of effort to make things right by a business. I will definitely think twice before staying at a La Quinta again and will certainly avoid this one at all costs.
There are 3 hotels all next to each other-Laquinta, Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn. I have only stayed at La Quinta. Pros: The hotel is conveniently located right off the highway and across from Walmart (where you can get food and fuel). La Quinta was clean, comfortable beds, good price and nice/helpful staff. Cons: the flooring does not muffle sounds-I could here people walking in hallway and nearby rooms- it is not extremely loud though (I am just sound sensitive).
Stopped here on my drive from Temple, TX to Seattle. Easily got a room online for a decent price. I had a king bed and the room was equipped a fridge, microwave, and desk. The staff were friendly. Continental breakfast was typical; waffles, cereal, toast, etc. I couldn't get the free Internet to connect with my apple products but it did work on my laptop. Not bad for a quick stop.
Not a good experience. My sheets were not changed from the previous guest and I found hair in my bed. Gross! Contacted the front desk only to be told there were no housekeepers to change the sheets and the hotel was full so she couldn't give me a different room. Yet my card was still charged the full rate. No discount. No apology. Never again. Not one good thing to say about this hotel.
We have normally stayed in the Hampton Inn in Dumas, but have noticed this La Quinta pretty much right behind it. So, this time through, we stayed in the La Quinta.
The hotel is very nice and clean, with all the usual things you'd expect in this price range. I rank it slightly behind the Hampton Inn overall, but it is also about 30% cheaper. All in all, I would pick the La Quinta unless the Hampton drops its prices to be more competitive.
Also nearby is the Holiday Express. Have not stayed there yet, but might on next trip in order to compare to the other two.
