Lobby and eating area are newly remodeled and attractive. Rooms are rather shabby. Our shower didn't work, and in two days we were there, maintenance never showed up to fix it. Bathroom door would not close completely, leaving it standing slightly open. Closet door did not close. Caters to workmen. There are better choices in Sweetwater.

"Good La Quinta Inn"

Stay here was very good. Accepted pets which we did not have to pay extra. Excellent breakfast, better than most hotels. Bathroom was very nice size. Air conditioner/heater worked great. Went right to sleep in their great beds. Why only a four star-did find where they did not clean the bathroom and only one trashcan which we had to carry from bathroom to bedroom. Over all our stay was good and we will stay on our return trip.

"Very nice La Quinta"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 6, 2014

First and last impressions of the lobby were impressive. Very clean and modern. The check-in and check-out staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was large, very clean and very comfortable. Furniture, bed and bathroom were in much better shape than is typically found in this class of hotel. The room was very quiet and the air conditioner noise level, while not the quietest I've experienced, was quite tolerable. My wife and I don't typically take advantage of the "free" breakfasts that many hotels offer, but we did here and were quite pleased with the hot and cold offerings. The only reason why I didn't rate this hotel higher is that they don't have an elevator. If you have a lot of luggage or large/heavy luggage, you'll want to ask for a 1st floor room.

"Bugs + Construction = Nope."
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 2, 2014

We were traveling from Albuquerque to Austin, and Sweetwater put us 2 hours closer than staying in Lubbock, so we easily found this off of I-20. First impression: OMG THE BUGS OUTSIDE! It was late at night and they were flying WILD. And they were GINORMOUS! They kept bee-lining into our trunk as we were taking our luggage out. One even hopped onto my luggage for a ride into our room. EWWWWWWWW! Once inside, we did have comfy pillows which led to a good night's sleep....until 6/7 AM when we were awoken by constant banging that sounded like it was all around us...they were doing construction on the roof! That early in the morning! I have never had a hotel do that before. I don't know what they were thinking... Also had a good breakfast selection. Oh, and if you thought the bugs would go away in the morning, don't worry, they're still there...waiting.

"Good property - nice stay"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 9, 2014
RoadCorgi | Fort Valley, Georgia
I found the property to be fine for my needs. Based on reviews this year compared to last the property has appeared to have gone through a renovation (and may still be going through it). Where I stayed (Southeast end of the buildings) the rooms had been renovated and the AC in my room provided a refrigerator like environment if I let it. The good: 1) Breakfast (for a LaQuinta) was huge, basically a full breakfast. Eggs, one or two meats, grits, biscuits plus the traditional LaQuinta offerings. I had read many reviews talking about the breakfast and they were for the most part accurate. The breakfast was usually set up well before the 6 AM scheduled start time. The staff working the breakfast was always checking to see if anything was needed. Work of warning to first time guests - at 6 AM there are a number of people in the breakfast area - you will not have a quiet intimate meal at 610 AM (it ain't going to happen). 2) Convenience - It's close to I-20 with easy access. 3) Quiet - Getting to sleep at 10 PM was not an issue. 4) Service - I found the staff to be very nice with one exception (see the not so good). 5) Value - Good value for the money. Not so good. 1) Spotty Housekeeping. My room was clean and well taken care of except for 1 day when it wasn't (and a left a nice tip in the room each day). I basically was left with no soap and shampoo (good thing I have back ups). 2) Parking - I wish there was more parking on the east side of the property. 3) Wifi - I had good wifi access, others I traveled with, not so much. I saw the spotty service and I can understand other people's comments about the service. The comments about the "pull-down on the faucet to start the shower" are correct and the front desk did tell me about it. Since I had encountered this "feature" before at other hotels, I was prepared. I would also wonder if there are "dog rooms" versus "non-dog rooms"...... All in all, this is a good property and I would return to it again.
