This hotel needs a lot of refurbishing to get up to proper standards of a mid-price hotel chain. Much of the place is worn and the elevator and the garage are dark and dirty. The room was small and the carpet needed to be changed. The breakfast was minimal and the quality was poor since everything seemed to have been defrosted just before serving. The location near Old Town is convenient, but there are other better choices in the mid-price range, and I would not go back to this hotel again.

I did a lot of research before booking this hotel for our trip to San Diego last weekend. We were only staying two nights, but there is such a big difference in price for all the hotels in this area, and too many to choose from. I really liked the Old Town area. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. You can also catch the Old Town Trolley Tours fairly close to the hotel. Even though they were remodeling the hotel when we stayed there, all the workers were very polite and considerate as we were coming and going from the hotel. Our room was clean, as were all areas of the hotel. Also, the bed was very comfortable. Although they do charge $10 a night for parking, the parking is underground, under the hotel and seemed very safe. My only complaint would be the free breakfast. I've stayed at many LaQuinta locations, and this one didn't seem to have all the breakfast items that the other locations offer. They had the customary waffles, muffins, toast, cereal, and yogurt, and that was about it. Other than that, I would return to this hotel again if I made another trip to San Diego.

I chose this hotel for our group's post cruise stopover . We arrived early .(closer to check out time than check-in time) The employees at the desk remained very courteous and calm while checking with the ladies who clean the rooms to notify them that there were 35 people waiting in their lobby for rooms. Everyone remained cool ,calm and collected! Within a few minutes, we were being offered some rooms and soon everyone was checked-in. The location for sightseeing, shopping etc. is excellent. There are numerous restaurants and souvenir shops all within 2 or 3 blocks. Some of our group took a bus to the beach and most took an enjoyable 2 hour trolley ride which took them to all the highlights of San Diego. Some of us even found time to relaxe in the jacuzzi. If you want a clean, quiet hotel with a very friendly and accommodating staff , look no further.

We have stayed here 4 times and choose this La Quinta as it is centrally located to so many attractions in San Diego. We were delighted with the new renovations in our room--beautiful furnishings and comfortable bed. The bathroom had been updated with new flooring, sink and countertop and looks great. The staff is very professional, helpful and friendly. I have recommended this location to many of my friends and family and wewill return again.

On 3/27/13 I checked into the La Quinta Inn Old Town for a two night stay with a group. We were picked up at the airport by the hotel's transfer service and greeted at the hotel by the front desk clerk, Alex. He had all key packets ready and pointed out the complimentary breakfast area. Whenever I saw Alex, he was always available to answer questions, give suggestions or just smile and say hello. This was the theme with all employees I came in contact with during my stay. The manager, Karina made herself very available and arranged for the Old Town Trolley to pick up my group at the hotel , as well as arrange a reservation for dining at a Mexican restaurant in Old Town, complete with discount coupons. Prior to my arrival I spoke with Grace several times and once again she was friendly and helpful. This is the 1st hotel property, when I sent in my rooming list , followed up to see if my guests would need additional pillows, bathroom amenities or anything they could do to make their stay more comfortable. Overall, I and my group were well taken care of and we would return to this property whenever we are in San Diego.
