"Poor service"

We moved across the country and decided to stay in La Quinta Inn in Queens since we had stayed in a few along the way. We had fantastic experiences at all the other hotels, but this one was significantly less clean and staff was rude. All the other La Quintas also accepted pets, so we were surprised when we saw a "no pets allowed" sign at the front desk. I informed the staff that our dog was a service dog, and even though I offered for my counselor to send them formal paperwork regarding our dog, they hassled me about it every time I would come and go from the building. The room was very small, parking is about 10 spots behind the building, none of which are big enough to park a uhaul, and the continental breakfast was a joke. The only upside is the 7 train is just blocks away and there is decent food in the area. Don't waste your time or money with this nasty, unfriendly place.

"Great place to stay if in NYC"

Located in Queens, this La Quinta Inn isn't the best hotel in the world, but it's great for the money and convenience. Located just a couple of blocks from the train, and within a few blocks of since great restaurants. The rooms are clean but dated. The staff was great. Even hooked us up with a free upgrade to a jacuzzi room for our anniversary. I'd definitely stay here again next time we go to NYC.

"Worth it!"

Stayed on 2 occasions, last time in August 2014. If you're not going for a fashion hotel, this is one of the places in NYC that can do the work. Very good location, subway just a few blocks away. Excellent connections to Manhattan (7 train) and to JFK and La Guardia if you use public transportation. And cheap. From JFK terminal 1 to the Hotel is about 1 hr (including air train, waiting for trains, E subway, 7 train and a 5 min walk). It may seem long, but it's not. Plenty of food choices around the hotel, from fast foods and small grocery stores to diners. Rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast OK, you get the basic stuff. Just one remark: if you stay there during summer months, the rooms facing east often are really hot! Would stay again and personally recommend it. I read about the "coldness" of the reception but this is very subjective. I found it professional and expedite, asked also for a late check-out with no problems. So unless you want something special, the staff are really OK, including housekeeping. And then bear in mind that you are in LIC, not a fancy resort close to a NP.

"OK but.... not changing the bed sheets?"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 18, 2014

Everything is fine (when scaled down by NY standards), but we noted that the bed sheets and pillow cases were not changed for a few days in a row. When we finally get around to talk to the front desk the house keeping people were no longer available...

"Not as good as before"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 5, 2014

I have stayed at the La Quinta Inn Queens on a few occasions and each time it's gotten progressively worse. I'm not saying it's awful, because it's not, but it's not great either. Pros: -Location is great. I love Sunnyside and all of the shops, restaurants, entertainment, etc. It's a great place to use as a base for NYC. The 7 train is a couple blocks walk in either direction and only a 15 minute trip into Manhattan. -Free breakfast. It's not great but it is included. If you don't like it their is a McDonald's right beside the hotel and even better, Pete's Diner and Grill is just a couple blocks away. -Free Parking. If you drive in NYC, you know what a plus free parking is. Not a large lot, but you'll get in somehow. -The cleaning staff did a great job during my stay. I always received clean towels and they always made the beds, cleaned, etc. -Beds are comfortable Cons: -The receptionist, managers, staff (not including the cleaning staff) are just not friendly. I'm not saying they're rude, they just don't do the things that most recommend in the hospitality industry, things like smiling, greeting guest, just a simple glance and a hello might be nice from time to time, but you won't get much of that here. I wouldn't let that stop me from staying here of course because I'm not in NYC to make friends with the hotel staff, but it would be nice if they were a little more welcoming I guess. -The bath tube never drained properly in our room during our stay and our shower knob was broken and never fixed. -The rooms on the Queens Blvd and the 7 train side of the hotel might be a problem for light sleepers, but I've never noticed it. All in all, this is a decent choice to use as a base for NYC. It's close to all the main attractions with use of the subway and the Sunnyside area is a nice, safe area to explore as well. If you can get the hotel for a good price then don't hesitate to book it.
