"Do NOT stay here!"

We checked in here and left shortly thereafter. There was popcorn on the floor, dirty carpet, a filthy toilet seat and bathroom floor and flies!!!! EWWWWW. When we called down to complain the desk lady said that the cleaning staff had already left and that she would either come and clean the room or give us another. No thank you....we went to the other Abilene LA Quinta location (which was fine.)

"Lake St. Location is bad."

It's old, run down. Nice staff, but that's all that I liked about it. It's inexpensive for a reason if that means anything. Nice try. They have free breakfast. The air conditioners are old, the entry doors are located on the outside. I like hotels that enter from the inside. I don't want to park outside my door. It's far away from town but there is a Denny's next door.

"Smelly, dirty rooms"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Jul 24, 2014

We've stayed at this hotel twice per year for the last 2-3 years. It has gradually gone down hill in service, cleanliness, and building upkeep. There are 2 La Quintas in Abilene. We have avoided the other one because the rates are more than double this one. Well, we're done with that plan. We stayed here last week and it was worse than ever. For starters, the front desk clerk (who was working the desk over a period of somewhere between 24 & 36 hours...short staffed much?) never stopped talking revealing WAY TOO MUCH! For instance, there's a fella who works in a factory down the road who drove her daughter-in-law to kill her self last year. Uh....didn't need to know that. Also, all 3 times I needed something from the front desk, I had to wait for her to put out her cigarette and mozy on inside. We had 2 rooms and both smelled terrible. The carpet made our socks and feet dirty! We couldn't let our toddler down on the floor! Both non-smoking rooms had also clearly been smoked in repeatedly. The place was also crawling with dogs! One couple just outside our room had two huge dogs the size of small ponies along with another three small dogs!?! Who wants to know they could have been in your room just before you when they clearly don't do a good job cleaning?!? Granted, when I complained at the front desk, I was given one of our two rooms for free which I did not ask for. However, I wasn't looking for free. I was looking for cheap and I guess you get what you pay for. Next time, we'll either stay in the other La Quinta for $140+ per night or not stay in Abilene at all. In other news, I had a flat tire when we came out in the morning and the cap to the valve stem was missing. We aired it up and drove another 600 miles. I have yet to put more air in it. Therefore, it would appear someone let the air out....

"Older Property with Solid Service"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Jul 24, 2014

This property has become our go-to stop on our way south from the Texas Panhandle. It is an older property right by Interstate 20 and behind a Denny?s. Over the years they?ve been stopping thee, management has worked hard to improve the property. The proximity to the interstate makes it convenient. You would expect some noise in the front rooms from the heavily travelled main highway, but that isn?t the case ? the front-most rooms are quiet. What really sets this property apart, however, is the staff and the incredible service. For security reasons on this trip, we requested a first floor room at which we could park the car. At check-in, the room was available, but the parking spaces were over-run. Keli, the front desk angel at the time, made sure that we could park the car in the portico where the staff could watch it overnight. That made for a better night?s sleep. This La Quinta is a good value and pleasant stop.

"Great overnight stay going home"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Jul 19, 2014
Mike_El_Paso | El Paso, Texas
The facility was very good and clean, as well as comfortable and quiet. The price for the stay was a great value. Access from the freeway is normally great. At the time we came through there was construction that caused us to initially miss the exit. But after that little hurdle the stay was very nice. Accessibility back on I-20 is excellent. If you want more than the LQ Bright Side Breakfast or if you miss breakfast there is a Denny's Restaurant next door. The service from the front desk was excellent. I have trouble climbing stairs and the lady working the desk was kind enough to go upstairs to get the ice I was in search of.
