"Just one night!"

I say "just one night" because I have few complaints about this hotel. But I could not spend more than one night there - and then just because it's a place to stop for sleep on a long drive. My hubby and I LOVE the La Quinta in Eugene, which is favorably placed beside the Willamette River. This La Quinta is between a busy freeway and a busy frontage road, so bring something to play white noise or music on all night or you'll hear every down-shifting big rig on the Interstate!
I felt sorry for the young woman working the front desk alone when we arrived at approximately 8:30 p.m. She was down the hall cleaning up the upchuck in a guest room, and had to leave a sign on the desk that said "be back momentarily." There were guests waiting to turn-in their room number placard (which had fallen off the wall outside their room when the door slammed shut!) LoL. The lobby STINKS of chlorine, from the indoor pool which is RIGHT THERE when you walk in the door - a little much, don't you think???
Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a whirlpool which was "vintage" 1980, dark green fiberglass (the timer on the opposite wall starts the jets - but no signs to explain that little detail!) which did not match the bright yellow and orange shower curtain (themed to match whatever their morning breakfast promotion is?can't recall) so kinda of garish on the decor, La Quinta buddies?
Morning breakfast in the tiny cafeteria looked like the cast of "Duck Dynasty" had all taken a break from the latest episode - never seen so much camo-gear in my life! LOTS of yammering kids and running around. The crock pot for sausage gravy held the congealed scrapings of what appeared to be cat food and gravy - so no worries, I don't mind missing that! The double toaster did not work on one side - again OK, since there were maybe two bagels left and one sad little wrinkled English Muffin?sigh?
Good juices in the dispenser, though. A cut above the juices at Hampton Inn's morning breakfast. Also, the waffle batter smelled devine - it said they were Malted Waffles?sounds nice. A real milk dispenser too - you don't see that just anywhere that serves a free breakfast.
So, decent job La Quinta crew in Albany - not your fault for the poor placement of the property. But I don't expect we'll stop there next time we come through. I'd pay the extra $12 to stay at the exemplary property in Eugene.
Prior to our move back to Portland, we for years stayed at LaQuinta at PDX when visiting. Now on business trips I have again chose LQ for the attributes listed above plus complimentary breakfast in the morning, an extremely friendly and helpful reception desk, etc. I like the consistency of the LQ locations and I get what I expect.
I always stay at this hotel when i come to town. I have never had a bad experience, friendly staff, quite, good food and they allow pets. The hotel is conveniently located by the freeway, gas stations and stores.
"Updates would be nice better location if possible."

Stayed with my aunt in a double room for the first night. The second night moved to a "suite" which had less light and seemed do drag. The bathroom had less towels. The shower leaked on the floor. The curtain was not the bright shinny one we had in the double so I didn't understand. I know the air conditioning is in the bed room but the pull out couch creaks when u sit on it. The mattress is so thin it looks like notebook paper. The rollaway that we had was just as bad. I can tell its an older property and some things can't be changed but at least fix holes I'm the shower curtain. Peeling wall paper. Put brighter lights in rooms with no windows. Fans in rooms with no air conditioning. And does every room have the same framed picture of the bridge? Change it up a bit. Make it feel inviting. Staff was super nice and friendly. But the breakfast could have more fruit and variety for your business travelers who stay several days.
began with inadequate directions via phone when we were only ten minutes away. finally found it on our own with my son's google search. arriving at the reception desk we were met by NO ONE. My son and I stood there for five minutes, rang the bell twice, still no one. My son said it was only 12, but I say close to 15 minutes. still no one came. Had we been thieves we could have walked off with computers and other items. My son then walked down the hall and knocked on a door and an elderly gentleman asked what we wanted. We said we had reservations and would simply like to check in. When he walked to the desk the young lady who had given us inadequate directions finally came running down the hall with a load of laundry. The gentleman said, "sure woke me up!" We eventually got our keys and walked to our room shaking our heads. Not exactly what i expected from La Quinta.
