"Quaint & Homey Atmosphere"

Older hotel with outside entrances but very clean & well kept. Enormous pool area & nicely landscaped. Would stay here again! Variety of breakfast choices, even waffles & muffins---very comfy beds! The bathroom area is a little outdated but clean. Rooms are well insulated because I could not hear any noise from the other rooms & we were on the bottom floor.

"Great value for the money."

Great customer service from check in to checkout. Great value for the money, rooms are a little on the smaller side however. Really enjoyed the garden area beautiful during early spring. However they have no fitness center which was kind of a bummer as I stayed here for 11 days, had to go down the street to the gym.

"Comfortable, but beginning to show age"

I have stayed at this property several times over the past few years. It is well located on Loop 323. There is moderate highway noise, but not enough to be a serious problem. Staff are courteous and helpful. The rooms are clean but are beginning to appear a bit worn and tired. Typical motel breakfast. The HDTV appeared to be relatively new, but there are only about 30 or so channels. Overall, our most recent stay was comfortable. The real plus for this property are the mattresses - they are very comfortable. This is at best a mid- level motel, but the prices are reasonable, and we will likely return.

"Better than expected"

We stay at La Quintas because they do not charge extra for pets. We also pay a bit more for a room with a refrigerator for the dog food. It may seem that all you get for the money.is a tiny refrigerator with a microwave on top, but you really get a better room. Ours was fabulous. The beds were new and better than some beds at high end hotels. Also the wifi had blazing fast speed compared with most places we have stayed. The pool was beautifully landscaped with azaleas in bloom early April. La Quintas have a niche with dog owners and really should plan more grassy areas with poop receptacles. This La Quinta also fell short in this regard. The breakfast room smelled of burnt plastic so we went to the IHOP a mile away. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful. The shower had plenty of hot water.

"Good and the bad"

If you read my reviews I can't remember ever giving a hotel a "terrible" rating. The reason for the terrible rating is because of the front desk clerk who I think is the manager. She really does not need to be in the hospitality industry. I have dealt with front desk clerks who basically knew nothing about the area but this person's negative response to any question or request is the reason I am giving it such a low review. Her overall negative attitude is poison to this property. I have stayed the last two nights here. The first night the property was full but last night it appears to have less than 1/2 the cars on the parking lot that it had the previous night. I requested a "late" checkout and was told there were "no" late checkouts at this property. I am a Laquinta gold card member which is supposed to give you the benefit of a late checkout. I certainly could understand no late checkout if the property appeared full and there could be difficulty in cleaning the rooms for the next night but it is very obvious it is not. This manager/clerk with the "NO" attitude may be good for the operational management of a hotel but way to offensive to the guest. I have to return here on business and I will not come back. There is a Laquinta in nearby Longview which I will go to. On the good side this is a well maintained older property. My room has newer carpet and linens. The breakfast is typical for Laquinta and it does have those small individual cartons of milk which I prefer. The landscaping is probably one of the most beautiful I have ever seen at a Laquinta.
