"Nice place if nothing goes wrong"

Check in was a breeze. Unfortunately the A/C in our room was not working. Being a south facing room, the sun had heated things up to 80 degrees. We were moved to a room across the hall but forfeited the "park view" which was included in the cost of the room. Not only did we not get the lower rate for a different room but we also received nothing for our inconvenience. We had an event to attend and were delayed about an hour due to the room issue. Everybody was very polite and apologetic, but paying a higher rate for the room should have been taken care of at that time.
My husband and I were traveling to the Oregon coast with our 2 dogs. We left SLC and got into Eugene around 11pm. Once in Eugene there was a bit of construction going on around the hotel and it made it difficult to find the hotel. We made several passes missing the one way street that was the only enterance to the hotel. Once we arrived at the hotel since it was pretty late in the evening the already small parking lot was completely full with cars. We kept doing passes for about 10 minutes looking for a parking spot to open up. After finally finding a parking spot I went into checkin while my husband tended to the dogs. The checkin process was quick and easy and we were given a room on the second floor. There was a side enterance closer to where our room was making the hearding of the dogs a bit easier on us. Near the parking lot was a small strip of grass that we used to allow the dogs to do their business. We didn't find out until the next morning when it was light out that there was a large park across the street from the hotel to let the dogs enjoy.
The room was a decent size and clean. The room had a large TV with a good selection of channels as well as a mini fridge which made it nice to unload the contents of our cooler. The next morning we got up at about 9am giving us enough time to get down the the free breakfast that was offered. There was a so so selection for breakfast, some sausage, hard boiled and scrambled eggs and waffles. It was nice for a free breakfast, and allowed us to get on the road quickly without having to locate breakfast within town. I didn't know about their rewards program for military until th end of our trip, so I missed out on adding this stay to our rewards. I wish the front desk would have prompted us to join seeing that we had a military rate. In all for the price the hotel was nice, we usually stay elsewhere in Eugene but seeing as we would be staying for less than 12 hours this location worked.
Stayed here 3 nights, in town for a wedding, myself and my wife. Price point was $118/night plus tax. At that price point, I'd say this property is a solid choice for the area. Details...
--Location is pretty good, right by the river walk and the main central city park, short walk over the ped bridge to "downtown".
--Property and common areas are well-kept, nothing spectacular certainly but well maintained
--Rooms were OK, about what you'd expect from a not-new La Quinta at a cheap rate. They were clean certainly.
--Beds were OK, nothing special there, had a variety of pillows which was nice.
--HVAC in the room was noisy
--One cheesy thing bothered me - that annoying "feature" where you have to have your room key in the little slot for the HVAC to work. Every time we came back to the room it was sweltering at first.
--Pool area was fine, smallish
--Breakfast buffet was free and, well, it's about what you'd figure for a free breakfast at a hotel like this. It was OK.
--Staff were very friendly and helpful
OVERALL: Decent hotel for the price. Nothing special, but very little bad to say either, and in a very nice location. I'd recommend it, especially if you are looking for a more reasonable alternative to, say, Inn at the 5th (which looked very nice but was $399/night).
"Hard to find a better pet friendly property and location"

We often stay at La Quinta when traveling with pets and most are very accommodating and make pet travel a little easier. The Eugene property adds significantly to the typical experience. Their location is significantly above most others. The adjacent park is a very welcome respite after a long days drive and our dog appreciated the nice setting, grass and ability to have lots of space to sniff. The property itself (lobby, pool, rooms) is also above average for this type of property and the front desk staff was very helpful.
Its nice to be pleasantly surprised upon arriving at a not before seen hotel and that is exactly what my experience was!
Not only affordable, but with all the amenities you want in a hotel stay. As good as it gets in comparison to other chains. Excellent serve-yourself breakfast with a large variety of options. Checkout at noon instead of 11am. Stayed at many chains and have decided to frequent LaQuinta!
