Two honors day ceremonies, back to back.
didn't want to drive each day, so stayed overnight at LaQuinta, Madison Square. Wonderful stay, restful, convenient, comfortable, friendly!
Weekend of shopping planned? Overnight at LaQuinta is great. Convenient to all stores, and a quiet place to re-charge!

Pros:
- Helpful front desk staff (especially Brian)
- Approx. 1 mile from Oakwood University
- Approx. 3 miles from UAH
- Rooms have modern/redecorated interiors
- Flat screen TV
- Free breakfast
- Fitness center with treadmill, eliptical, and small space for 1-person calisthenics
- Very near to food, shopping, mall, etc.
- Quiet off of road off of main strip (University Drive)
- Free parking
- Free wireless internet
- Microwave & fridge (in KING bed rooms only!)
Cons:
- Clear lack of attention to detail in the interior (dust, chipped paint, scuff marks, etc.)
- Microwave & fridge ONLY in king bed rooms
- Smoking smell seeps up from 2nd floor to 3rd floor
Summary:
Affordable, descent stay if on a budget to stay very close to Oakwood University (ie graduation, alumni weekend, Sabbath visit)
I stayed in your La Quinta Inn, that is in Huntsville, Al. I was supposed to have a non-smoking room and when I got there I went inside the room and it was full of smoke. I told the front desk that this room smelt like smoke and I was told that they will come with some kind of spray to help with the smoke. That did not help and the front desk did not even offer me another non-smoking room.
I feel that La Quinta Inns owe me a free night because it was thier fault that I did not have a good night sleep.
Please send me a certicate for a free night stay.
Jared checked us in, and was very polite and helpful. Registration went quickly; he did have to ask his manager about using the travel coupons, and had to give us 2 double beds instead of a king, but he apologized immensely for having to do it. The beds were comfortable, room clean. No odor, no issues. Shower worked well. Minimal noise from hallway, but room window did over look the back of the Waffle House next door. Had some noise from there, but not much. Breakfast was the usual continental, but also had hard boiled eggs which was nice. The guy who checked us out was very pleasant, but we didn't get his name. Would recommend staying here (get coupon from interstate hotel magazine). There are 3 La Quintas in the area; this one was recommended as was the one 2 properties down.
This hotel is showing a LOT of wear. It appears to be an Old Baymont or Super 8. The lobby is tiny. The carpet through out the hotel has a funny odor....reminds me of furniture polish. My room needed new carpet and furniture BADLY. Upon attempting to check out, the person on duty was no where to be found for over 30 minutes. Finally he entered the hotel's rear door with his breakfast in his hands that he had left to buy. The only good thing I can say is that the WI FI was fast. There are MANY fine hotels within a mile of this hotel. Go to one of those.
