"So tired of staying in this place"

I have stayed in this hotel several times every year since 2006. I dont like giving these reviews but here it goes. I was suspose to be in town for one night but by the time I checked in I added another night then a third. When I came back from a long day I got to my room and of course the key was only coded for one night. I know this doesnt sound like a big deal but everytime I stay multiple nights I have to get my card re-keyed more than once. When I checked in some guy that was riding the elevator with me was asking me some very personal questions about what I was doing there and how long I was staying. The room seemed to not be vacumed in a great while. I looked behind the chair in the corner and the carpet is a diffrent color because of the layer of dust from the chair never being moved so that the carpet could be vacumed. I whent down to the front desk after my second night to inquire about another night and I was cut off steping out of the elevator by the maintenance man. He whent strait to the front desk so he could complain loudly about another guest with some colorful language. When I got back to my room the next night Nothing had been done, and I mean nothing. I set the trash out in the hall. I glad there was still a couple of unused towels from the day before. After putting in 14 hours that day working I didnt want to sit around and here the excuses of the front desk. I did incounter some pet waste in the elevator that night as well. The elevator shows no safety inspection record info. The last couple of time I stoped eating Breakfast here because they let guest bring there dogs down with them and thats just nasty to have a dog sniffing my plate while the owner is messing around with the waffle machine.
This hotel is average. We stayed in a room with 2 double beds. First, the positive aspects were numerous. The beds were clean and comfortable. There were ample pillows and blankets on each bed, the linens were clean and smelled fresh. Both beds were firm, but "cushiony". We had plenty of towels and everything worked. The window opened easily, refrigerator was icy cold, television had great reception, breakfast was good and the workers were friendly.
Now for the negative aspects: the entire place had a bad odor. Our room smelled like smoke, despite being "smoke free". Our linens smelled clean, but the room smelled bad. The carpet was clean, but had stains all over it; it was obviously old and quite worn. The door was difficult to open; we had to pull and then push in order to open it.
This is, by far, the nastiest La Quinta I have EVER stayed at. I picked this particular location because it was closest to Pinnacle Mountain and Whole Foods and they also allow pets. Big mistake! Our room was disgusting. The entire floor smelled like smoke. The carpet was stained and the furniture was filthy. There was no soap or shampoo, no batteries in the remote and the bathroom light was out. There is a La Quinta not too far from this location, I will stay there next time.
Dirty, hostile, environment. People hanging at the door, feeling uneasy. No one at the desk was even slightly friendly. The driveway busted up concrete. Elevator dirty with cigarette butts in the floor. Carpets in hallway and rooms, nasty. Would never stay there again.
I don't think the management knows what clean is.
Room was large in size but in need of a deep clean. Stained carpet, walls in bathroom stained, strong smoke smell! It was supposed to be a non smoking room, it also had a ash tray in the room.Thank goodness I could open the window or we would have left. Halls and elevator dirty! Breakfast area is off the lobby selection of food was typical of LA Quinta. Walls and cabinets in breakfast area stain and dirty. They vaccum but that's about it. Staff was friendly. Dog friendly hotel.
