From the moment I checked in until the moment I checked out, the stay exceeded expectation! Clean rooms, VERY FRIENDLY staff....especially front desk and housekeeping, nice fitness area, breakfast room could have used a bit more variety but it WAS complimentary and I am NOT complaining!
I will stay here again!
My family and I are from the Humble//Kingwood area and recently moved to OKC. But we come back often to visit family. Thus far we have not found a suitable clean, family hotel in the area. To start when you walk into the lobby, I immediately notice furnishings that were very outdated and looked like it was just a hodgepodge of items thrown together. First impressions mean everything to me. The staff was nice enough but nothing spectacular. The room we had was on the first floor and when we walked in, we could immediately feel that room was dank and the floor felt a bit moist. My husband who never says anything about a hotel room, couldn't stand it and vowed never to return. Additionally, there was a very large insect that was killed at the entrance of the lobby, which made a pretty good sized blood smear. I told the front desk and all she did was sweep away the remains and left the blood stains there until the night cleaning crew came by, which was an indication to me on what cleanliness meant to the staff.
I was looking forward to staying at the Kingwood La Quinta Inn after earlier experiences with this property. I had wanted to stay based on friendliness of staff and management, and after reading about their stepping up to provide shelter to evacuees from New Orleans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I needed an ADA-compliant room with a roll-in shower to stay with my 94 year-old mother for a few days while her belongings are moved in order to relocate to my hometown. I made a reservation several weeks early, got good rates, and called to confirm that the room had a shower she could use (which was the reason we were not staying with relatives in Kingwood). When we showed up to check in, we were told that the rooms with the roll-in showers were occupied and would not be vacated for several more days. The receptionist explained that the accommodations I had specifically made the reservation for were offered "as available", which was not mentioned in the online reservation process or when I called after making the reservation. We fortunately found the one available room left with the needed facilities at a competing nearby hotel, but this was a very disruptive and disappointing experience.
I stayed here the past few days as I am thinking of moving to Kingwood, and this hotel was recommended to me as being nearby where I wanted to be. Upon arrival, I was greeted by front desk person, Gail. She was warm, welcoming and made me glad I was staying here for a couple of days. She gave me the room key, and I loaded up the luggage cart and went up to my room. As I was taking the luggage cart back downstairs, I walked by the room next to mine only to hear a VERY LOUD barking dog. I went back down stairs and told her I wouldn't be able to stay in the room with a barking dog next door. She willingly gave me a room at the complete opposite end of the hall. Thanks, Gail!
What I noticed immediately that I really liked: There's a door stop on the outside of the door. So you put it down and can unload luggage from the luggage cart. What a great idea! The other thing I liked was the ceiling fan in the room. Now how cool is that in a hotel? It was a first for me.
Room was clean and housekeeping was on top of their game as far as cleaning up the bathroom and making the bed.
The one issue I had was the breakfast. On the weekend it is supposed to go until 10 am. I came down Saturday and Sunday at 9:30. There were no scrambled eggs left either day and on Saturday there was no sausage left. I had no idea if they were planning on putting more in the chafing dish. Absolutely no one was in the dining area to ask. Some guy made a complete mess of his waffle batter--all over the floor and the counter and, again, no one was there to help him or clean up the mess. Yuck! Who wants a waffle after that? I know, it's "free", but really I am paying for it and when there's nothing to eat, should I get a break?
We booked a night stay for my daughter's birthday sleepover and it was the best time we ever had at a hotel!! The staff was VERY nice and helpful the rooms we very clean and the pool was great! Thanks for deal long with squealing girls you made their weekend!!
