We stayed here when we were moving out of Texas. We chose it because of location and indoor pool. The pool was great, the staff was good, the room was fine, the location was perfect, but the breakfast was poor. Our second day we ate breakfast elsewhere.
I went to Kingwood to visit family. I was very pleased with everything at the hotel during this stay. We really enjoyed the indoor pool. I'm sure I will choose this hotel for my next stay. The waffles were a very nice treat!! I do wish they would have had scrambled eggs though. I was concerned about having trouble finding the hotel but had no trouble at all.
I was extremely pleased with the room, service and the hotel. I was told by the hotel staff that the hotel is going to be remodeled and additions made. It was great the way it was so with enhancements this location will be an even marvelous place to stay. Thank you BC
I stayed here for the national junior olympic competition and I LOVED IT! One and only one issue, the shower curtain needs to be installed properly! Other than that, this place is GREAT!!! The staff is warm and friendly, the rooms were clean, the pool is nice and the parking is secure! This was WAY MORE than what I was expecting from LaQunita!
I stay at La Quinta hotels often all over the country and belong to their returns program. I decided to stay at this Houston Kingwood La Quinta due to the closeness of family, even though the price is about $40 more per night than the next nearest La Quinta hotel in New Caney. We had booked two rooms to attend a family reunion. In advance, we asked for a quiet room away from the highway hopefully and booked it about 2 months before arrival to ensure the ?quieter? rooms. This did not happen and we had rooms that were noisy, not only from the highway noise, but also from the hallway noises. One of the rooms that we stayed (see photo) had a door that did not reach all the way up to the door frame and left unusual open space between the top of the door to the actual frame. The shoddy construction or placement of the door also lent itself to a privacy concern with the open door space compromising our privacy.
We brought this to the attention of the front desk woman who stated we can not move as they are fully booked. We learned that special requests for rooms are not dealt with until the day of arrival, so why ask for such in the booking process if they are not prioritized. She seemed apathetic, no solution, no apology, just an attitude of ?that is how it is.? This fell way below our experiences with La Quinta, but it did not end there.
The next day I wanted to use the business center which had two computers. One computer was being used; the other seemingly did not work. I asked the front guest gentleman if the other computer was working. He responded, ?I don?t know, I have not been here all weekend (it was a Monday morning)? and went back to what he was doing. I thought, is this front desk apathy contagious at this hotel or what. Pushing the issue, he said, just come back later to use the working computer. After an hour I did return. Much to my surprise, what I then found was that the computer business room was then under renovation. Yes in one hour, they started the renovations and all computers were gone and we had no access. I went back to the front desk and asked, why did you tell me to come back to use the computers when you knew the center was being closed in that same hour? Why waste our time? Again, SORRY, I was not here this weekend. Huh?? Hard to believe how this hotel staff do their job and meet ( or do not meet) customer needs.
It does not end there. We decided not to extend due to the noise, staff issues, lack of business center and door space etc. not to mention this hotel is more expensive and move to the New Caney La Quinta. During check out, the same man at the front desk was on the phone with a guest who was staying in the hotel and raising his voice telling the guest to pay before noon and not try to not pay as last time. Do we, as customers, need to hear this? He was loud, angry and inappropriate in that all of us in the lobby could hear him raising his voice to a hotel guest. We checked out and move to the La Quinta at New Caney area, about 14 minutes away, which is much better overall in all ways.
I feel La Quinta Kingwood was our worst experience with any La Quinta in the USA that I have stayed at. Staff can really make or break a hotel when all else is equal. Staff need to be better trained in Kingwood for sure and realize the guests are why they are there. It?s not about their arrogance or what happened on their day off; it?s about what is happening when they are at work.
