We have stayed at this motel before, which has two buildings one non-smoking which has the breakfast in the lobby. The other building is for smoking. Because of Eastern Ky. graduation the non-smoking building was full and we had to stay in the smoking building which they are converting to non-smoking on the first floor, but the room still reeked of smoke odor. No other motels had two rooms available.
overall very nice stay. front desk lady very nice and did a good job with reservation and check in.... the room was clean...needs updating with fresh paint and minor repairs to molding ...etc. i would recommend stay here... the morning breakfest was good with plenty of assortments to pick from.... coffee was extremely strong!!
We got a good discount by using a coupon available at a rest stop ($50/night). Since it was listed as pet friendly hotel, I asked for a non smoking, non pet room. I was never told they did not have any pet free rooms so we booked a room. The first room we went to was already occupied and we went down to the front desk and got another room. No elevators but we knew that in advance and said we could navigate the stairs. Hotel is away from the interstate and was quiet. It is in walking distance from the Cracker Barrel restaurant which was nice. Room was adequate, small bathroom, only amenity was a small vial of shampoo and soap. The next morning I could barely breathe. I asked at the front desk if they had any pet free rooms (thinking may the first room was pet-free but the other not) and was told no. Breakfast was adequate with hard boiled eggs, activia yogurt, choice of breads and pastries, juice, waffles, cereals. Room had a nice flat screen TV. It was hard to adjust the water temperature for the shower, it went from too hot to too cold too easily. Would not stay there again.
We had to be in Richmond for a funeral. On the way there I read reviews on my iPhone for different hotels and decided to give this hotel a try in spite of the widely varying reviews. We picked up a coupon book at a gas station and the clerk gave us the coupon rate even though the hotel was nearly full and he didn't have to honor it. It saved us nearly half the regular rate, thus making it a very good value. We stayed in the main building and the king bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean, except the bottom of the door in the bathroom (which is VERY small) was damaged and needs replaced. The room was large and had a very nice desk for my husband to work at, and there was an easy chair in there, too. There was also a microwave and fridge. Options for breakfast included hot waffles, biscuits and gravy, as well as the usual bagels, toasts, cereals, juice, etc. It was a very friendly atmosphere. The price was WAY cheaper than the hotels down the road at the next exit.
called ahead while traveling down the interstate. friend said "all hotels in Richmond were full due to horse park opening". I called this one and they had rooms. made reservations w/o incident. this is the 2nd time we have stayed at this location, first time was back in Dec 2012. same results then as well. rooms were fine, breakfast good. only issue this time was the back stairwell had a funny odor but one you were on the 2nd floor the smell was gone. the AC worked almost too well! no complaints on room or staff. check in/out went smooth. would recommend this hotel and LQ in general esp if you travel with pets.
