We discovered this wonderful hotel that we want to keep on our list of best hotels along the intersate 95 on our trip to Florida. We are snowbirds, so we travel from Quebec to Naples Florida twice a year and this hotel really meet our needs perfectly.
We travel with a cat and are looking for pet friendly hotels. La Quinta welcomes animals without charging extra fee. Our room smelled fresh and clean on arrival. The window in our room could be opened. This is rather rare in the US and this hotel offer this possibility. Not only could we open the window but we had a view on a nice little wood with even a bubbling brook! And this at a few miles from Baltimore's airport and very close to the interstate and yet we haven't been disturbed by the noise and we kept the window opened the whole night.
This is an exceptionnal place to stay next to 1-95.
Easy off I95, this is one where you can get a quality affordable night sleep. Staff is knowledgeable and polite, directed to nice eatery.
Separate entrance for our AAD dog made it a pleasant experience.
Even found several Jack-in-the-pulpit plants in the woods. . . .nice!
We choose this hotel because it was pet friendly and the location was five miles from my daughters home. We were there for my daughters wedding traveling with 2 little yorkies. The pet area was was a very nice area to walk the dogs and we were able to leave the dogs in the room for the ceremony.
The rooms were very clean and roomy. We had 4 women staying & getting ready for a wedding in 1 room not tripping over each other. The beds were very comfy more comfy than my bed at home. The hotel was very quiet also.
The breakfast was very nice and coffee available 24/7. That was a big plus for my group.
We will definitely stay here again & would recommend this hotel to others.
Thanks to all the other TripAdvisor contributors, I had a good idea what to expect. I agree with a lot of their comments, but here's how I judged my stay.
Pros:
* Immediate location. Very close to the I-95 exit, yet secluded in a forest. Very restful despite being so close to the highway.
* Wifi. Free and strong enough to stream music.
* Value. I'll admit it; the room rate was what lured me this far away from DC during Cherry Blossom Festival season. A good price with no surprises.
* Service. In a fairly surly town (see below), the people at the La Quinta were all friendly and did their best to be helpful.
In-Betweens:
* Exercise. There's an exercise room, but no pool.
* Breakfast. There were two waffle irons and the usual continental breakfast suspects, but no protein other than a vat of hard-boiled eggs. One morning we went to Frank's Diner about a block away and had a very good breakfast, so the silver lining is that a weak free hotel breakfast can encourage you to find something better.
Cons:
* Surrounding businesses. This isn't really suburbia. There are literally cons up the street behind barbed wire. Jessup is more like a prison town or a truck stop town. Unless you count an odd organic place across the street, the closest major grocery store is miles away in another municipality. Lots of long trucks parked on the streets. You wouldn't want to walk anywhere.
* The toilet. The cable(!) between the handle and the flapper snapped on our final flush before we left on our first morning, and we mentioned it to the front desk. A new chain would have fixed it in 60 seconds. Instead, we returned to find a whole new apparatus inside, including a new flapper that leaked. Noisily. We borrowed some landscaping rocks to weight down the flapper as we slept, then reported it again. Our next return found the chain adjusted, but the flapper still gurgling. Good thing we kept the rocks around for one last night. Don't worry, we took them out of the toilet tank each morning before returning it to its normal flushing duty.
If TripAdvisor allowed half-stars, I'd have given this La Quinta a 3.5. For a tie-breaker, I'd say that the long drive in heavy traffic to get to any DC Metro station would give me pause before I chose to stay here again. This isn't a bad place to stay, but there aren't many reasons to pick this hotel for your visit.
I would rate this hotel pretty good, considering what part of town it is in. This area is an industrial area that is just pretty ugly in general. However, this hotel manages to keep a very courteous staff and pretty good conditions of the hotel in general.
