A La Quinta traveler |
I've stayed at the Charleston Riverview La Quinta several times and have always had a good experience. It is close to downtown but far enough away to not have to worry about your car in the outside lot. On this stay the AC unit in our room wasn't working and they switched our room to a better room with a harbor view. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also have a great breakfast spread. If you avoid staying on Friday and Saturday the rates for the rest of the week are a good deal being this close to downtown.
Why I say the Laquinta inn is a great location is bc we got it on Priceline for a really good price. It was a $10 cab ride to downtown. Worth it. Don't pay the shuttle fee if you want to be out past 8pm That's $8 a person round trip which again is fine if you want to come back to the hotel at 8.
Bathroom seemed like it was not fully clean. Floor was a little sticky. Otherwise the room was fine.
Breakfast was ok. Nothing special.
Would stay again only if I could pay the same $63.
On the upside La Qunita is good value, free parking, free internet, close to a couple of waterfront eateries and one of the few places in the States to offer complimentary and a wide variety of breakfast.
On the downside, it smelt a bit of pets, the airconditiong unit was quite loud and it is a drive into the heart of Charleston.
I have stayed in 4 different rooms over the last month and every single one of them had an obvious issue form missing telephone and broken t.v and alarm clock to simply missing soap and shampoo. After washing my hair with soap because I didn't feel like waiting for front desk to send shampoo. I came back after the room had been "cleaned" to find they had still not put shampoo in the bathroom and left me with the used bar of soap and no fresh one. I might think this was a "green" policy but the soap was replaced in the other rooms. Paper trash that was in the hallway when I left at 8 am was still in the hallway when I returned at 4 pm.The final straw was seeing the laundry chute adjacent to the guest elevator propped open with no one watching it. This is such an obvious safety breach and potential lethal hazard for children that it astounded me. Your room supervisor should be fired.
