"Convenient location for a great price"

We spent 5 nights here. This place is a fantastic value, MUCH less expensive than the downtown hotels. The beds are very comfortable, pillows are pretty good. Breakfast is quite serviceable and included with your stay. Parking is free!. It is a simple matter to drive into the city, but we only did that once, as the shuttles are $16 round trip per person and parking downtown is dicey at the best. You can use the free shuttles and walking to go where you want. The only negative is that at times the shuttles can occasionally be unreliable. Be sure to call ahead and let them know where you will be (there are 2 pick-up locations) and when (every 2 hours from 10AM-8PM). The staff people are very nice here.
We needed a place to stay close to downtown that would allow us to have our dogs in the room and La Quinta fit the bill! Nice clean rooms, nice view of the harbor, and awesome location! We would definitely stay here again. Great for the money especially if you have pets.
The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. I enjoyed the breakfast variety and I liked the late check out time. I liked the tv in the exercise room and the equipment was easy to operate and in good working order.
The location is convenient and picturesque.
I read the review about the fridge-yeah, not having a fridge is a bummer. I thought all rooms had one these days.I was promised one 4 times, by two different staff. I just gave up on that craziness.
The breakfast area was set up in an inefficient manner. Some food was shoved into a corner and the traffic flow in general was halted by the set up. I stayed three days and the breakfasts were congested. No nice restaurants within walking distance--stay away from California Dreaming!
The room was comfortable and I did not mind the bridge side (vs the marina side).
There's a lot of local brochures in the front, including multiple city tours. There is one that permits small pets, but did not catch the name, from another guest.
We booked a block of rooms for our wedding party (20 rooms). We never visited the hotel prior to the wedding weekend because this was a destination wedding ? it was a big mistake!
I was disappointed when we go to our room because there was not a refrigerator (I called the hotel prior to our stay to make sure rooms had refrigerators because I needed to keep my flower bouquets and other wedding items cold and the front desk lady assured me some rooms have refrigerators and she would make a note on our reservation). The hotel was smelly, the doors on the back side of the hotel to the stairwells were propped open allowing the whole hotel to be muggy, hot, and humid. The staff was rude at check in, they ran our credit card twice for one night and we still haven't received a credit, I have wasted so much time calling and trying to get in touch with a manager regarding being overcharged and the front desk staff always tells me the manager is unavailable and the front desk staff is unable to help to. Also, don't count on getting any breakfast in the lobby unless you are one of the first ones awake, they ran out of food every morning. Our room was not the cleanest, there were some sports on the comforter, and our tv remote had sticky stuff all over it, and the bathroom shower had hair in it when we arrived. Our wedding group gave them a lot of business for 3 nights and they didn't treat us well at all. We will not be returning to this hotel or recommending it to anyone. For the price you can find a better hotel in Charleston.
