The hotel looks new, but looks like it was completed with shoddy workmanship. My room had all the wallpaper peeling off the walls, grout EVERYWHERE in the bath, and loose carpet. It gave the room a really cheap feel. The room was clean and comfortable though. The bed was cushy and I slept like a baby, which is what I consider the most important aspect of a hotel. Location is decent. Easy on and off the interstate. Not much around the hotel though. I didn't use many of the facilities at the hotel. The TV only got about 30 channels, which was disappointing. My "average" review is mainly due to the unprofessional staff. The girl who took my reservation managed to incorrectly take all of my information, even after repeating myself up to three times per field of data. She butchered my last name (it's four letters long) leading to a headache upon check-in (with the same girl.) She messed up my email address, leading me to not receive a confirmation email. When taking my credit card deposit, she didn't know which number corresponded to the month of January. Seriously. She said, "You know how this month is 6? What number is January?" I honestly thought she might be stoned, but after everything else that happened I think I think that's just how she is. Upon check-in she gave me keys to a room that had not been cleaned from the night before. That was after I had to haul my luggage up the stairs to the 3rd floor because the elevator was broken. As I waited (for a long time) at the front desk for a new room, a tatted up maid was talking condescendingly to the front desk girl who was trying to help me. The maid did this in between complaining about her job to a fellow employee right in front of me. Yeah, I know it's a La Quinta, but still... All in all I guess I'd stay there again if I was in the area, but only after doing a more thorough search for off-the-beaten-path hotels.

"Best motel in at least a year of travel"

Like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates, this was one to never expect. The room had everything: big bed, couch, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, wi-fi, tv, working ac. Then there was the pool. It is indoors (Vermont can be cold outside). We went in it for a while using the pool towels that are on a rack. Continental breakfast was just fine. Even the parking is good. I have been in a lot of motels and this stands highest on the list. I use 12 months as the time since comparing something from the warm and fuzzy past is not fair. Go to St. Albans and stay there.

Absolutely what we expected as far as cleanliness and service. So glad we have found a nice hotel that caters to pets. Being able to bring our little dog with us is a big plus! Have no negative comments to make about our stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites in St. Albans.

"Nice but too expensive"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Jun 23, 2014

We needed two rooms for three nights for a family wedding. At check-in we did have to wait several minutes for the front desk staff to complete a phone transaction before she could help us. Rooms were very clean, however, the first floor (breakfast area and the front desk) smelled like cigarette smoke...which didn't really affect us since we were on the third floor. Even though we were happy with the cleanliness of our rooms and comfortable beds, the total cost for three nights, two rooms was over $1,000! Because of the hotel's close proximity to the wedding venue and no other hotel choices in the area, we felt that it was our only option...an expensive option.

"not a first choice"

staff hard to locate--and the breakfast was out of key items, we required a folding bed and the room was too small to accommodate the folding bed and it was hard to move around the room when I went to look for more towels I couldn't find anyone they were out of coffee and again no one could be found
