"ok for the express deal I got..."

I got a deal from a 3rd party, so can't complain about that. My first impression was it looks a bit dated. I fealt the counter staff were unprofessional. I meantioned I was excited it was my first time to Minneapolis and I was quickly "corrected" that I was not in Mini and I was in Bloomington... and not in a nice way. WOW.. could have kept that comment to herself! I was happy it was a none smoking rm. high floor -so decent views of the freeway :S Bed was nice/comfy! Cable only a handful choices to watch. free wifi is always nice. The bathroom is dated, but clean...two sm towels only. No fridge or microwave in a king room. Ice machine outside is a tad noisy.. But the Freeway is much louder. It says a 5 mins drive to Mall of America and it's more like 10-15. I took their option for a shuttle to the Mall... After picking up a guest at his business then taking him to the airport first, we arrived at the mall and was dropped off exactly 65 mins later! There are better closer options to the mall next time. For the price, at least it was clean which is important.
Staff was efficient, friendly and professional. The room was very clean and the pillow top bed was comfortable, we were able to bring our dog with us and that was a real bonus. The breakfast food was average and offerings were appropriate.
"Clean, Friendly Staff, Great for Pet Owners and Convenient"

I booked a three day stay for business with very limited expectations. I was nicely suprised by the very friendly staff, clean rooms and the convenient of the hotel. This is a large high rise hotel with meeting space, so not your typical La Quinta. The breakfast was adequate and all else was quite exceptional. I traveled with my elderly 17 year basset hound, and I can honestly say this was is truly a pet friendly hotel. I was not given a smoking room or a musty out of the way room. The hotel has a convenient pet area. The hotel is modestly furnished, the bed was great and again very clean! I would recommend the hotel for shere convenient, service and it's true pet friendly attitude!
When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff. We were very pleased with our two-room king suite. The sitting room came with a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, and a nice long counter with a bar sink. It was nice to have the extra sink. Preparing meals for the dogs, dining in and using the coffee maker made it a plus. The room came with a sleeper sofa which we did not use for sleeping. Both rooms came with a flatscreen tv. The rooms were spacious and clean. Each room had large sliding glass door windows. It was snowing while we were visiting. So we enjoyed the view from the eighth floor. The sitting room had a work desk. I liked the long table in the bedroom. I was able to organize all our belongings on it. Even though the carpet was clean, it's a priority of mine to keep luggage up and off the floors. The room had all the usualmamenities of iron, free wifi, and free breakfast. Love their free pet policy! Their linens were nice, and the bed was very comfortable. Nice quiet room. I would highly recommend staying at this location.
I've had the pleasure of staying in higher-end hotels lately for business travel. My stay for one night with my family brought my expectations crashing back down to reality.
The room was fine. It was designed to be made as cheaply as possible and still not be considered bad. On a scale of 1-100, it was a 51. Beds were fine, but only full size -- not queen. The TV worked. There was a mirror somewhere. The bathroom wasn't anything exceptional, but all was functional and clean.
One irritation: You could choose to have the fan run constantly, OR have the heat/AC on -- not both. I like the fan on for white noise, but you had to turn the heat/cooling function off in order to achieve that. Dumb. The temp was mild, so we didn't need heat.
There was a slight smell to the place. Not gaggingly bad or anything, but a light mix of musty clothes, questionable body odor and stale cigarette smoke that only an older chain hotel can achieve. It wasn't obnoxious, but it was present. Depending on the floor, the smoke smell was more or less intense. Thankfully the 10th floor wasn't bad.
The elevators moved with the smoothness and elegance of a Soviet-era Ferris wheel. It started and stopped with an odd jerky sensation that made the kids giggle and mom get nauseous. It sucked.
Also going back to it's Eastern Bloc roots was the pool, which may have doubled as a bomb shelter in the late 70s. All cement, all white. About 8 chairs, and jokingly small towels to use. It was reasonably clean, and at least the water wasn't too cold. And hey, a hot tub. Yay.
Some good things to say:
- Breakfast was above average. Lots of options, lots of room to spread out. 4 waffle makers, so minimal waiting in line.
- The rooms were surprisingly quiet, even located next to Stalin's favorite elevator.
- I was surprised that the room had a fridge and a microwave.
Overall, it provided us with a nice, comfortable night for about $60 off of Hotwire or Priceline or something like that. It was okay. Last time I did that I got a room for the same price at Sofitel across the street. That was much better.
