Nice clean rooms, good service. A little bit out of the way for the Mall of America, but there's a great burrito/taco place called Pancheros that is walking distance, and a lively bar called Poor Richards.
We were really impressed by this hotel--its appearance, the breakfast, and its staff. Staying at this La Quinta was like staying at a much-more-expensive chain. They even have a workout room and indoor swimming pool. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. The free breakfast buffet was awesome. Even though they did not have hot breakfast foods such as scrambled eggs, gravy, or biscuits, they had a tremendous selection of other items--waffle batter you pour into a preheated waffle maker (which had very easy instructions), boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, muffins, bagels, cereal, milk, juice, & coffee. They did not overlook any details--right down to the peanut butter, cream cheese, and jellies. The breakfast staff person was also very nice and accommodating. The only thing we didn't like about our whole stay was that the air conditioner would cycle on and off, causing some sleep interruption; however, I saw a maintenance manager (Joel) in the elevator area and mentioned my concern, and he was very quick to address the issue. My flight into MSP was delayed and I ended up missing my connection home. Delta put me up in the La Quinta in Bloomington for the night. There were probably 20 of us on the shuttle that all arrived at once. There were three people behind the counter but only one of them was checking people into the motel. Eventually another one started helping people after we stood in line for 10 - 15 min. I?m not sure exactly what they were doing behind the counter but obviously customer service was not a priority. The motel appeared to be very dated and the room was not spotless and did have an unpleasant smell. The breakfast room was nice, very large, which became the highlight of my overnight stay.
I've never been disappointed in any La Quinta that I've stayed at and this was no exception. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The entry and check-in areas were spotless and provided a feel of a higher end hotel. This high rise building used to be another chain (Comfort Inn, if I recall correctly) and the room size was a bit smallish showing the age of the building but La Quinta did a great job remodeling the room and making it comfortable.
The indoor pool and exercise rooms both have security doors requiring your room card to get access. Some people might find that nice to know.
The breakfast room is nice & large...no feeling cramped in there.
Without a doubt, my wife and I would stay there, again.
Convenient location to Mall of America with free shuttle bus. Easy to get to other points of interest in Minneapolis. The front desk staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The free breakfast bar was delicious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was clean and spacious.
