"Nice Location, Nice Staff, Needs Remodel"

Pleasant staff, friendly from check-in to check-out and this hotel did the job it needed to do. However, the hotel is reminiscent out of something of the early 1990s and in severe need of an upgrade. I would have rated it excellent for the purpose of the trip if everything had been more modern.
A little hard to get to but the room was clean and comfortable, the staff was welcoming upon arrival and breakfast was good. However, La Quinta should still consider an upgrade their breakfast items and extend the hours to 10 am.
Convenient location...just off the highway and close to restaurants and shops. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff need to be trained in friendliness especially when the hotel business is in high competition for guests... Beyond horrible. When our room didn't get cleaned on Saturday, we went to the front desk at 11:30 p.m. to request towels for the next day. The desk clerk, Angela, said "it's your own fault your room wasn't cleaned, you had the do not disturb sign out." We pointed out that we HAD removed it prior to leaving at 1:30, and there were two cleaning trolleys in the hall. Angela said, "well, you missed your chance." (We actually didn't care that the room hadn't been cleaned and we weren't upset about it; we just wanted some towels.) When we also asked for Kleenex she was rude and disrespectful, sighing loudly and tossing the box at us. When I stated there was no reason for her to behave so rudely, she threatened to call the police if we didn't leave the desk, at which point we left immediately. About 20 minutes later a police officer arrived at our door! After a short discussion with us, he agreed that the clerk was out of completely out of bounds. We are college professors in our 60s who get along with everyone! This experience only got worse upon checkout the next morning when the male desk clerk said "I know what you did last night to make Angela call the police." This in a loud and hostile voice that caught the attention of guests in the lobby. When I said perhaps he should hear from us what really happened, he said "No, Angela told me all about it." He wasn't even present the night before and yet he loudly and rudely attacked us as we were checking out. We actually felt as if we were in the Twilight Zone, this was such a bizarre experience. DO NOT go to this hotel!! And BTW, the room wasn't very clean and the coffee in the lobby was terrible. All in all, the very worst experience we have ever had in all of our travels. We've been LQ members for 20 years and we will never stay at one again. AVOID THIS PLACE.
Overall nice hotel, the outside was very nice The only thing that would make it a 5 rating for me would be to have access to the pool/hot tub a little later, since I had a late check in. Also, I love hot breakfast items, so I would love to have some hot eggs/scrambled or and some meats, like turkey sausage/bacon.
