The grounds where very well maintained, as well as the hotel. I chose this hotel because it was "pet friendly". During my stay I saw several other pets, but there was absolutely no pet odor lingering. The hotel was very fresh.
This is a good overnight hotel for business travelers, as long as you don't want a hotel restaurant, a hotel bar, nor local room service (it's available from an 800 number). The grounds are nice and well kept. Breakfast is minimal, coffee, bagels, cereal, etc. For the price I would think you could do better :-) I have a problem with my room not locking properly (I can push the door open after letting it close), so be sure to check your door after closing. All in all not a bad hotel, but certainly nothing special.
We stayed at the Mopac LaQuinta for a quick trip to Austin. It was very clean and rooms were nice and comfortable. Both the GPS in our phone and the one in the car had trouble with the address, "S Mopac Expwy" and "Mopac Expry S" kept coming up as suggestions and neither location had the zip code that the hotel has. Once we found it - it was pretty easy to get to, and really easy access to Zilker Park and Town Lake and Congress Street. We got this one as a mistake, thinking it was the one by the airport, but Like the location even better.
For seasoned travellers this "inn" was below average. $110+/night, for 2 full beds. Very overpriced. Should have paid $20 bucks more and stayed downtown.
strange smells in the room and hall ways, overall looked old and dated. Breakfast was a joke, with tiny Styrofoam cups. Cold hard boiled eggs!?! Terrible muffins.
guy at front desk seemed clueless. They don't know what's written in their own brochures, when asked.
After staying at The Driskall the night before we felt as though we were walking into a mansion of a room. The price was $10 less and we had coffee in the room as well as a nice breakfast. Location is so so to downtown but we were visiting family a couple exits away so it was fine. I would stay here again. We were able to check in early (around 10:00 am) and the staff was very friendly.
